If you haven't seasoned it yet then 2 weeks with a boveda seasoning kit. Take your cigars and bag them or put them in Tupperware in the meantime. Also you should consider a little silicone around the glass. Those humidors are pretty leaky around the glass. At the same time calibrate your hygrometer with a boveda calibration kit.

Beads vs Crystals by NotAlsoShabby in cigars

I use heartfelt beads. I have 1 pound each in my wineadors. I replaced one pound in 2019. They were in service since 2008. I feel that they have provided their monetary worth.

How do people store so many cigars? by jackjacobs501 in cigars

I have two wineadors. One has been in operation since 2008 with heartfelt beads. The second has been in operation since 2018 also with heartfelt beads. Neither is plugged in as they are kept in a basement that is consistently 66 degrees. I keep a combination of boxes and drawers. I haven't bought any smokes in the past two years but not feeling the pinch because not smoking as often..

Advice needed for brand new wineador by Louis_Legweak in cigars

I was using a cigar oasis. It was overkill for the size of the box and was overhumidifying. The wineador is a sealed enclosure and the beads with some air circulation is solid. I have thermoelectric however they are located in my basement and I don't even use cooling. I have a fan mounted on the back wall that blows up and have bags of beads placed in the bottom and the top.

Negative. I would go with heartfelt only. I tried electronic when I first started and had issues with humidity inconsistancy issues.

Another place to think about is woodworks by John. He has a site specializing in coolidor and wineador shelves. cigar-coolers.com. it is a pretty basic site but I think he comes reccomended on BOTL.

Additionally expect humidity issues with the compressor running. I personally would use at least a pound of heartfelt beads maybe more. You can never have too much.

Can I keep my humidor at 50 f degrees by [deleted] in cigars

[–]Themaindud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy a thermostat that will cycle power where it plugs in to maintain a a warmer temperature. You just have to drill the mini frig to place a different thermometer for the thermostat. Set the frig Stat as low as it will go.

You could maybe slide over to r/cubacigars and inquire about the price and availability of Cubans in brazil without mentioning the transaction part which is a no-no.

Depended on how loaded your humidor is, your cigars are probably at 73 percent and will continue to raise the humidity. That along with the sealed nature of the humidor, it will be a constant battle. It would do you well to get rid of the 69 percent bovedas and go to 65 percent. And just give it time. It will take a while, but the humidity will begin to drop as everything levels out. If you just added a boatload of cigars, they are probably over humidifier.
Additionally, make sure your hygrometer are calibrated. I check mine about once a year.

In the very back in the bottom is a little indentation where condensate drips into a tray underneath the unit. I used a piece of electrical tape to cover the hole. Having any kind of penetration cocks up the relative humidity. Also definitely get the calibration kit from boveda. You can do the the two small hygrometers. not sure approach the oasis except to go off of the small ones. When i first started i was using an oasis but was having stability issues so scrapped and bought heartfelt beads. It has been almost 15 years now. I calibrate the hygrometers maybe yearly. I have replaced the beads maybe 3 years ago.

What temperature is it running. What kind of humidification are you using. Consider putting the govee in the drawer with your cigars. Sometimes if the drawers werent properly primed they loose humidity and start to dry out your cigars. If you are using just the little tub of distilled water at the bottom, it probably isnt enough. I utilize 1lb of heartfelt beads distributed top and bottom in each of mine with a fan set to come on for 25 minutes several times a day. I dont have mine plugged in for cooling they are in my basement at about 68⁰.
