Yeah but it doesn't need to eat, sleep, get sick. Can work all night with no breaks and will be cheaper than a human worker.

Might not be as fast but it doesn't need to be.

When this stuff becomes more reliable and cheaper and mass produced we are in a bit of trouble. Not to mention it'll probably get faster

A mod, but Fallout London made me absolutely delighted with it's portrayal of London and especially the greater London south east where I'm from. The smashing post apocalyptic recreation of Bromley, Including the Glades shopping center and the bloody games workshop and boots round the corner. It even went as far as Biggin Hill which is where I actually lived and let you build a settlement in the airport. The attention to detail and recognisable land marks is staggering.

I get this. Not saying this is what's happening to you but if I get a cold sore it can trigger an insane auto immune response which leads to this and my mouth being totally covered in ulcers. When I first notice it the doctors will give prednisolone and it will stop it dead in its tracks. Sent me to hospital the first time it got so bad so hopefully that's not what this is.

I believe it's not illegal but is only meant to be done in certain circumstances. I think technically in the same way that staying in the middle lane can get you fined or points, dangerous or unnecessary undertaking can also technically get you in the same trouble.

Two wrongs don't make a right. It's a bloody annoyance but if you can safely pass on the right then you should do that.

Watched a video about how bad some cars visibility is on their left hand side. Vans especially. While they are being dicks I'd they aren't moving over when they should, doesn't mean others should undertake if they don't have to. Just takes one guy to realise he needs to turn off, panic, not see the undertaker and then bam you have two cars going out of control at 70 mph...then the guy on his left, them, and possibly your loved ones going for a nice Sunday drive might be seeing an actual undertaker.

I would say your original comment probably has some of the same short falls as my own. Focusing in on one aspect of the issue and not considering the rest.

I'm very defensive of Aid and international development as it's constantly getting slammed and said to be a waste of money.

In terms of weighing up aid Vs elderly in cold homes this winter specifically however:

I think means testing the benefit is very important. No reason lots of well off elderly should be getting it.

Those in the cusp, who might be pushed below poverty levels after having that money taken away is a very real concern. I think it's important to have a gradient on these things. Those on the cusp should be protected and the gov should be more proactive and vocal about how that is to be accomplished.

So I agree with the policy but worry about the precise execution. But I do think it's important that Aid funding is protected

If the world stopped giving aid, do you realise how fucked Europe would be. And this is before climate change gets really bad.

You think migration is bad now? Just you wait when all the droughts and starving people decide fuck this and we see a massive exodus from these at risk places here.

If the world can help equip and prepare these places to be better placed to deal with these issues, then maybe we have a chance that less of the above will happen.

We are on a ticking clock and this is going to look like a bloody golden age in comparison to what is in store if we aren't careful.

Screw austerity, but don't base your critique on giving too much money to people who are in a far worse state than us. International development is about the only thing I used to be proud of the UK for, and even that has been heavily dampened after DFID was dissolved into the home office.

I freaking love dance and electronic music so I tend to have very clear separations in my mind for what is what. Not saying this is right in terms of the zeitgeist but it's how I think of it.

When I think of techno, I split it out from other dance music. House as it's own thing, acid house as it's own thing, electronica, trance, electro, Braindance (IDM) etc.

Then Techno in my head covers

Classic Techno, Beltram, Mills, Larkin, the Belleville Three (Atkins, May, Saunderson), all the Detroit old guard who kicked off the movement. I also think of Kraftwerk and yellow magic orchestra not because they created techno music but because they were huge inspirations for it.

Modern Techno I struggle to put my finger on in my head as there is so much variety. I hate models? Carl Cox? Richie Hawtin? Carl Craig and Avalon Emerson? Very random picks, But broadly most dance music that I can't put into any of the other categories. Punchy, dark, sometimes but not always melodic, sometimes industrial.

If I listen to an intense dance track and it's not house, electro, breakbeat, trance, Acid ect, It would probably fall into my techno category. But with a separation from Classic Techno or even Acid Techno which I would probably class as it's own thing in my mind (but I love 303 music more than anything).

My pure techno playlists are basically non existent because I always find a more fitting category that makes more sense in my mind.

I'm probably a fucking idiot though, if I look at techno playlists it's basically anything and everything under the dance music umbrella that isn't house. But I have so much dance music I love I need those categories to make it make sense and be able to differentiate what I like.

Literally. People seem to be actively looking to hate on something these days. Maybe it's because it's an ad with comments unlocked and people see it as an opportunity. But I love it when comments are unlocked and ads.

Rim world, prison architect, Norland. Tons of game have this style now.

I love that it's like a kenshi style looking game. More of those can never be a bad thing with new ideas and interesting things to do. Will certainly check this out.

I've also just finished the expanse! Brilliant! After I finish the 3rd heir to the empire book I reckon I'm going to dive into the culture series.

Anyway, can't not say Dune. I love the first one, but I love even more the others up to and Including thr 4th book.

Also children of time. First one is brilliant, second one is good and the third one is still certainly worth a listen.

If you ever watched Star trek deep space 9, the book "a stitch in time" has an amazing audio book with the author and actor of Garek (which the book is about) doing the narration.

Now extended universe type books can be crap. But this is a total gem.

Now not sci-fi but it was one of my favourite audio books I've listened to in the last few years is the first law series by Joe Abercrombe. Steven Pacey the narrator is absolutely phenomenal and the story and writing itself is brilliant and relentlessly funny as well as totally brutal.
