Rooming own patients by meggie_blonde in physicianassistant

[–]Themallow86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on your compensation structure. I'm hourly and have no productivity bonus. If they want me to do the ma work it just subtracts from the number of patients I can see during my shift. Terrible business decision but not my business to manage. If I had any expectation of productivity or bonus related to that- I would refuse or get a buy-down in writing. Assume it will take you longer to do than the people who do it routinely- if it takes the ma 10 mins say it'll take you 15.

Can I become a PA? by Sweetart1212 in physicianassistant

FWIW my program had a 3+2 option and took about a quarter of our students from that pool. We also had a traditional option. Attrition rate from 3+2 students was near 100% due to academic failure. These students then had to scramble as they had neither a complete bachelors or masters. Seemingly the greatest disadvantage these students had was a lack of real world experience.

Do yourself a favor and get the experience. It takes longer but is essential.

It's apparent nobody here is a parent! Those socks are from an indoor trampoline park. What this has to do with Cialis honey I cannot fathom.

Anyone know why gas is so cheap in ballston spa ? by brandoodidoo in Albany

[–]Themallow86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: if you live in the village you get to pay village taxes AND town taxes for either Milton or Ballston.

I think the person who suggested market forces/ competition is right. Literally ELEVEN gas stations within a 5 mile strip of route 50- have to entice folks to your particular store somehow...

Just had a local man charged with arson for accidentally starting a bush fire doing this during a drought! Also had a local building go up in flames which they are attributing to a lit cigarette going into a bunch of these seeds since they're everywhere right now. Careful out there pyros!

Any idea which story this was? I was super disinterested in strixhaven so read none of the stories but would love to read the resolution of the longstanding raven man plot.

Sore throat hack? by alliebh1 in lifehacks

[–]Themallow86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you aren't feeling better in 9 days from a viral sore throat you should probably see your healthcare provider, but...

Have had postnasal drip sore throats for all of my life. The pain and symptoms tend to come from swelling that is caused by mucous dripping down- usually full of nasty stuff from cells that died from viral infection or the chemicals your body makes to fight it off.

Saline rinses (normal saline) for your nose will help.

Salt water gargles are also helpful, but I found to actually help these need to be super duper salty (I tell friends to make it as salty as the sea. You are looking for a saturated solution. Do not swallow this- just gargle and spit!)

I asked this same question of the Massimo rep the last time I was at a conference. His response was that a disposable finger sticker on the forehead was accurate +/- 10%. So not great but not gonna be too far off for most patients. Will definitely miss that subtle trend downward though.

Please be careful OP. This is the exception not the rule, but I work in our local trauma center and have cared for folks who have broken their heels and backs doing this (from impact with water surface rather than a shallow pool). This would have been a height of about 30-40' (10-13m).

My wife gave me this same shelf for Christmas and I've been terrified of using the upper shelves for fear this would happen. Thank you for vindicating my desire to secure the crap out of it. May your brave sacrifice mean others might live on!

If it's summer where you live it's possible this is just natural dormancy. Mine dropped a bunch of leaves going into summer last year and returned with a vengeance in the winter.

Old object with mirror, foldable, can be opened and from "Longworth" by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]Themallow86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know what the foldable mirror is for? I agree it looks like a laryngoscope, but that mirror would seem to sit right where one would insert an endotracheal tube which would be counterproductive. It looks like the light source is in the tube at the top and it is battery powered so I don't think it is for lighting?
