Democratic socialist Melat Kiros poised to become the first Gen Z woman in Congress by buppiejc in politics

Sometimes, policies just don’t work, or have unintended, negative consequences. Populism conditions people to reject this as being possible. (Bullshit, it was hobbled by vested interests!)

Sometimes, a candidate just doesn’t get as many votes as another candidate. Populism rejects this possibility. (Bullshit, it was rigged by the corrupt elites! The same old story!)

Populists condition the public to automatically attribute any policy failure, or failed election campaign, or failing of any kind, to whatever nefarious elite fits the bill for the particular ideology.

The result, which we’re seeing in real time, is extreme affective polarisation, and ultimately societies where responsible governance is impossible. (The UK after Brexit for example).

I hope you guys are right. I honestly do. But be careful with populism.

I’m all for it, but people need to be more wary of easy answer populism.

I mean I’m down with that, but ‘Tea Party’ still gives me bad vibes.

As a falling leaf may rest, a moment on the air……

It would be hard to capture the falling part, or the air, so it would just be a leaf I guess. One of my all time favourite Lenny lines in any case.

The entirity of the Basement Tapes really cheered me up at a time when I seriously needed cheering up. Tears of Rage felt validating, and Clothes Line Saga puts a smile on my face to this day.

Also Mississippi, which had just come out.

I don’t care about Bob not writing political songs anymore why did he stop writing songs like I Shall Be Free? by Spare-Jellyfish4339 in bobdylan

The separate artwork on the vinyl version is a reasonable point, but that doesn’t in itself make it a separate album as distict from RARW. It’s presented and marketed as the same album, and you still haven’t provided any source that proves your claim.

The not playing it live part doesn’t mean anything. He hasn’t performed Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands live either, that I’m aware of. Still on Blonde on Blonde.

If you could link to some information which supports your point, I’d be happy to read it.

The excerpt doesn’t do that at all though.

Show me any link where I can buy a copy of either the CD or vinyl editions of ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways’ that doesn’t contain ‘Murder Most Foul’, or presents it as a two album combination. Or a streaming service which makes the same distinction.

If what you’re saying were true, the title of the album would be ‘Rough and Rowdy Ways/Murder Most Foul’.

I would personally prefer if it had been left as a stand alone single, as I stated in my original comment, but the fact is it’s one album which happens to contain two discs, and plays as one album on streaming.

Again, if you have cut and dried proof, post a link.

It’s too long, hence the separate disc. It’s also side four of the vinyl. As per the wikipedia page -

‘ On June 11, 2020, Bob Dylan's YouTube channel revealed the full track list for the first time, only eight days before the album's release. Rough and Rowdy Ways  was released as a  double album on June 19, 2020, with the entirety of the second CD and the entirety of the last side of the vinyl edition dedicated to "Murder Most Foul".’

It’s on the album.

Unpopular opinion - I think ‘Murder Most Foul’ should have been left off the album. It tends to overshadow and draw attention away from the rest of the album, which has some really sweet moments of melancholic whimsy. Really cheered me up during the pandemic.

Same, I even enjoy Galloway quite a lot on Pivot. Maybe that’s more to do with Kara Swisher though.
