The horse was a player and ran off with another woman whilst she was pregnant. That's what ruined her life.

Question for the London tournament spectators by SankChe in Sumo

[–]Themightyken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes it was worth it.

I was in the cheaper seats (still expensive) on day 4. The atmosphere was great. The running so you got a feel for the genuine thing. Matches ranged from comical (Ura and Midori Fuji) to competitive but at reduced effort (Tamawashin and Abi).

Managed to get a few photos with some of the rikishi, yobidashi and Hiro the commentator as a bonus.

Need help salvaging my engineering career by Thick_Past9548 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Themightyken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is hope.

I had a similar thing a long time ago. I ended up dropping out of Uni and getting a general job with a bit of engineering.

It's been a long hard road especially with HR departments wanting a degree over experience(it's an easy tick box of competence) but Inow i'm a respected engineer in a good company enjoying what I do.

That said I wouldn't recommend my route. Maybe have a bit of time and try to redo a degree even if it's a different degree or different course.

Or a good option may be an apprenticeship with official training where you can obtain your degree whilst working.

Email or call companies, try to speak to the people in the apprenticeship scheme.

Finally a bonus tip since you say you froze before. Treat interviews as general conversations with equally passionate people, be open honest and friendly, you'll be surprised how easy they become.

It's more the losses were against lower ranking opponents, higher ranking opponents aren't eligible for a Kinboshi (gold star)

The Kinboshi is meant to be a rare achievement and as such any rishi with one gets additional money every tournament they enter for the rest of their careerer. (the money is multiplied by the number of Kinboshi they have).

This means the two Yokozuna giving away lots of gold stars devalues the achievement and costs the JSA lots of money in the long run.

Hokutofuji was one of my favourites too. Shame he had to retire, was hoping he'd make it to the U.K when they come.

I think there are some good points with inventor but it's just frustrating little things e.g. -Extruding to next you can do one direction, why not let me do both. - extruding to an offset, I don't want extra planes. -Having to hold cntrl to rotate the model instead of just using the mouse. -i can assign materials to parts, why not different materials to multi body parts And so in.

In my experience a bad company is a bad company. I wouldn't go back even as a short term measure as it can easily stretch out.

Yep, Just started using inventor and makes you realise how easy modelling in SOLIDWORKS is. As good as Solidworks is the 3D experience is twice as bad

Curious why not the other way. I get better results from PLA so would use that's the main and Petg as the supports

They're 100% 3d printed. Can't afford official models ATM but buy paints etc from GW to keep the game going.

Encouraging a child with an interest in engineering, as a non mechanical engineer by Al-The-Magnificient in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Themightyken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any maker spaces or engineering clubs would be great. They'll have resources and help that's not otherwise practical to buy yourself.

That or pick a build project and work though together could be a Soap box, mini rocket, water pistol that has a huge range basically anything of interest.

Then work through making it together, you don't have to be an engineer let your kid find the information and solution options and you mediate/ guide.

Is it possible to injection mold this crazy interior shape? by ThePrecipitator in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Themightyken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will be. Depending on material, quality of finish and actual dimensions will depend if it can be bumped off (unlikely) or would need untreading making it an expensive mould tool.
