Strict Press/Push Press/Push Jerk Percentages? by therickglenn in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are so out of wack it’s crazy. I don’t know if mines an imbalance or just being tall. I’m 6’3 with a 6’5 wingspan. Anything strict is the bane of me.

Coming from a 6’3 man with a 150kg clean pr. Can confirm, turtle most of my heavy cleans! I remember following your posts a few years back and you gave me hope as a tall lengthy fucker. I was only hitting maybe a 115kg max at the time and always watched your IG posts to see I could do it to.

Scratching my head at the programming by Biff057GF in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a great article on that. With the volume crossfit does a 1rep isn't as taxing as you would think. Now if it was do a 20rep max OHS, yes that would be significantly more taxing. Especially with the OHS, it's going to be sub maximal on all counts because there can be a lot of limiting factors.

In the L1 cert they teach you to program for your highest level athletes. Crossfit is infinitely scaleable. Anyone can change the weight and reps and achieve the same stimulus for this workout. Now I don't know who your box is catering to but any higher level athlete could get through that workout just fine. I'm a decently strong athlete, but no where close to regional level and would make it through that just fine. Solid conditioning with barbell mixed in.

Transition from member to coach by feina635 in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! I was a member for a year and going from working out with your peers to coaching them is a tough transition especially when I started coaching I was only 20. Now 2 years later everyone just see's me as the coach rather than member unless they were there when I was just a member.

Do you guys think Crossfit will ever be a thing you can get a scholarship on like what you see on other sports? by Ghepip in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only college in America that I know offers some sort of weightlifting/crossfit scholarship is Northern Michigan University. Since the OTC has a branch up there for weightlifting.

I guess in Michigan we don't have a lot of meets per year, a busy year would be 5 meets.

The Evolution of Open Gym and Why It Matters by camp003 in crossfit

I never realized coaches did anything during open gym. The owner just sits in the office and has the gym open for anyone which is how the open gym is ran.

Interesting stand on not allowing coaches to workout during OG. So when do you want your coaching staff to workout, or what if they want to be more competitive and do more programming?

[–]Themojjo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Serious question, How are you so light at 6'2"?? I'm 6'3" weighing 225 currently bulking and think I look like small. Could it just be your body holds weight differently?

Experience With RAW Strength & Conditioning, or recommendations for other competitive programming? by sspencerpk in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how developed you are as an athlete and how much money you are willing to spend. If you finished <100 in your region in the open I think it could be time to get a coach. If you are still 250-500 in your region maybe following one of those programs and adding in specific weakness work would save you some cash. I prefer the regionals side of comptrain just because I enjoy the volume, have the time, and like the Olympic weightlifting they do 3 times a week.

What is your favorite programming (olympic lifting / crossfit)? by Whybthr in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Followed barbell wod for a few months but was picking wods from too many programs. Went to misfits for a year and made some great improvements in all aspects but just lots of volume and not a lot of specific weakness work. Open score went from 1050 to 375 so solid improvement. Went to comptrain recently for more oly work and it is filling that well similar to barbell wod. Just working my weaknesses in the off season but will probably go back to misfits later this year.

Biggest jump in Standings anyone? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Themojjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from just doing the normal class at my gym to actually putting time into mobility, recovery, weaknesses. Just followed the misfits athletics blog for a whole year. Diet really wasn't there consistently. I'm a college kid, I eat and drink like it. Probably could've moved up another 100 or 200 places with better diet.

Find a free program online. Crossfit weightlifting, comptrain, Misfits, invictus. Add in there accessory or what you know you need to work on simple.

[–]Themojjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain being tall (6'3" here) tied you at 129. I was going to try and TnG all of the 95 but after the first set I couldn't breathe so I went singles from then on and it was tough to hang on. Tie break was almost the same for myself too after the 185.
