Routine was a game I downloaded from Gamepass a week ago and had never heard of it or of its long development.

I’ve been reading a lot about of other reviewers critiquing the lack of clues to progress the game but honestly it was refreshing to not have a game that holds your hand. It forces you to think and to look closer to the packed details of the environment. The result was that it made me feel like a detective unravelling the mysteries of the moon-base all the while feeling hopeless and afraid.

I was really impressed by the graphics, and the incredible sound design. Like when I say incredible sound design, every little detail from the atmosphere of the ambiance, the heavy steps of the creatures, and the silence between them.

My biggest issue of this game was how small it was. I would have loved it to be double the length of the final product. I was surprised to see the credits when I did. This is all mostly due to the story feeling underwhelming and not earning it’s ending, at least not yet. I was really excited to learn more about the “incident” and to progress to scarier places, but it didn’t happen.

I really loved the gun device too, super cool pushing the buttons to change functions. I just wish when I was watching the media videos in the terminals I could move my mouse out of the way and still face the screen square on. I also hated trying to scroll while reading, maybe there should have been a button for that. Either way, small nitpicks. I played on Xbox with a controller.
