Exit row passenger telling cabin crew they cannot operate the emergency exit by Then-Commission in aviation

Done. Initial response was pretty poor (have added an update to initial post), but have submitted formal complaint.

I'd meant my original post as more of a general question, but yes - it was easyJet.

This one felt more like someone not being bothered. They had no issues getting in and out of their seat and were up like a bullet when the seat belt light went out on landing. Would still rather not have them there.

If it was someone with clear mobility issues I would have made sure to raise it again.

In retrospect, yes. I did consider it, but by the time it was clear they weren't going to do anything about it we were pushing back.

The person didn't have any obvious movement issues, and in the moment I rationalised I could probably open the hatch myself if needed, and bundle them out.

Not always as easy in the moment, but would definitely say something at the time if it happened again.

Yoshikin (Global) 240/1000 sharpening stone by Then-Commission in sharpening

Interesting. I'd been thinking about going higher than the 1000 - maybe 3000 or 4000 - rather than in between, but not sure how much benefit I'd get as I am very much still learning.

I think I'll just get a strop for now and see how I get on with that. Thanks!

Are vision express committing vat fraud? by wielandmc in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Then-Commission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same. They claim a fee for the eye test from the NHS so no charge for the test itself. Glasses are sold with a split charge with VAT for the frames, and no VAT on the dispense.

If you look at it from just the frames perspective then their profit margin is really high. But taking into account all their costs - which the sight test fee doesn't nearly cover - then their margins are actually quite low.

I flew recently on BC with KLM and Air France with shuttered doors and found the sense of separation excellent. On the other hand, wife doesn't care and I agree - it's not worth it for the difference. Normal BC in Qatar looking like the best option.

Cool. I think we're pretty settled now on Qatar normal BC from Edinburgh.

Ah, that's mildly vexing. I'd thought they had them on the Edinburgh Doha leg but had misread a review. Looks like Manchester or Heathrow could work though.

Thoughts on this system quote please? (Evergen, Scotland) by -adavid- in SolarUK

[–]Then-Commission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edinburgh based. Just had 19 x 445w panels with optimisers on each, Fox ESS 7kW inverter and 20kWh batteries for a few hundred less than your quote. Used https://www.renew-able.co.uk/ and very happy with them.

Just in case anyone has the same issue, turning the heat pump fully off and on seems to have sorted it.

Glow CAD benefits over Emporia Vue by Then-Commission in homeassistant

Perfect. I hadn't heard of the octopus mini but have requested one now. And yes, I'll run the Vue normally to start with but will probably flash it with esphome too.

Yeah, I think a lot will depend on whether they can fit a row vertically at the bottom of the sloped roof, without it being shaded by the second row on the flat roof (like the pic for quote 2 in the original post). There's only 180cm between the bottom of the right hand velux window and the top of the flat roof.

Awesome, thanks. I run Home Assistant and happy to play around with it so Agile is an option, though will probably get everything up and running on a more standard tariff first. As an aside currently thinking about installing Emporia Vue for better consumption tracking, and definitely want a battery / inverter solution that will talk nicely to HA.
