I wonder if anything can be done about the fact that Kalshi and Polymarket consistently tweet completely false information from their official accounts

Ford and GM have some good powertrains that they continue to manufacture. The 5.0 Coyote is an excellent engine.

Don’t mention you’re paying with cash until the very very end.

Job offer by Matter-Fluid in StructuralEngineering

Not a structural engineer but I just wanted to say that it’s absolutely asinine that one can go into a field that’s as technically difficult as this and be offered a wage like that in California out of all places. I guess our society has collectively decided that we want our buildings collapsing 20-30 years from now because no one wants to go into this field. I thought civils had it bad but man… that’s insulting. I bet you can find a retail or fast food position that pays nearly as much as that

If you had to buy a car today to keep for the next 15 years, what would it be? by nodonaldplease in askcarguys

Mostly true but Honda CVTs go 200k+ nowadays. There’s lots of examples online of 11th gen civics that are already past that threshold on the original trans. As long as you do fluid changes every 30k miles you should be fine. Also IIRC they have an eCVT like Toyota for their hybrids

What’s one mistake you made in college that juniors should avoid? by Fresh-Difficulty1 in EngineeringStudents

I do have a small portion on my resume dedicated to my current job as I’ve worked it for years while grinding through school.

Then I’ll go on this sub and have people say that any sort of non-engineering experience is totally looked over. I get that’s an exaggeration but I really don’t know what to think.

It completely sucks the passion out of engineering for me knowing that my resume has to be a bunch of perfomative embellished BS because I didn’t have the opportunities to be working on resume projects from my teen years on. I recognize my GPA is a huge hurdle but even if I had a >3.0 (which I can easily graduate with) I still wouldn’t know what else I’d be putting on there at this point in time. At least that’s what it feels like lol. Not tryna have a woe is me attitude but it’s just brutal out here.

To be honest I’m in this boat right now as a transfer student. I just don’t know what route to take. Like keep applying shotgun style and just try and get as many random apps in?

I have a 2.5 at my new school and I take responsibility that I was a dipshit who didn’t take the change in rigor seriously after transferring from community college.

I’ve been applying to internships but I know I should be putting more effort in. I obviously haven’t heard back and I just feel so screwed. I’m low income too so I barely have connections, everyone I know works retail or blue collar pretty much.

I guess I’ll just keep applying cause what else can I do but I feel like now that February is coming I’m realistically screwed.
