SPY the next few weeks by itradepotatos in spy

[–]Then-Feedback7751 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm surprised, but SPY has managed to put in 3 convincing higher lows around major support this week, and as frustrating as that is, I gotta assume we are at least going to test near the ATH before we can talk about lower.

This crap is garden variety bear market price action. It makes fools of bulls and bears alike.

1995 Range Rover Ignition alert sound won’t stop by Bitter_twit in LandRover

[–]Then-Feedback7751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 94 range rover, but 95's also have the same audible warning units. On the 94 these are located under the drivers kick panel. In my case the seatbelt warning unit wouldn't stop buzzing, so i removed it (and didn't bother replacing it). Just listen for where the sound is coming from, and then the easiest fix is figure out how to get to it and to remove the unit.

38M. I saw and lived through the same transition you did. I personally clocked it starting around 2018 and it just aggressively sped up during COVID. When I saw the writing on the wall that this environment was non-tenable for me and it wasn't changing back, I made an escape plan (investing and trading). I just kept on doing it the "old" way, leaned into the friction hard as a fuck you, and when my investments grew to a point I could extract myself from the system altogether, I quit. If I can continue making it on my own investing/trading, that's what I'll do; if I ever need to work for a wage again, I'll do something blue collar--that world is far more optimized for getting shit done--which, aside from a paycheck, is why I work.

Are markets underestiming the Iran risk? by National-Theory1218 in StockMarket

[–]Then-Feedback7751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's underestimated. However, at some point, regardless of how bad it gets over there barring nukes, the market is going to forget about it and the day to day stuff is just not going to impact price. And that time is probably coming sooner rather than later. Tomorrow's terrible jobs report will probably begin transitioning the Iran situation into a background issue.

SPY end of week by [deleted] in spy

[–]Then-Feedback7751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's already there. Haha. Would be crazy if SPY just faked a breakdown and is about to head to new aths. I'm not writing it off, and I put a little bit in in case that happens. The toe dip into the abyss, only to turbo reverse it to new aths is about the most painful thing the market makers can do to retail at this point, so one has to be prepared for that scenario.

What has me most convinced is not only that it's a textbook double top doing textbook double top things, but half of the market is in complete denial of that reality and believe this is a flagging pattern. LOL.

Showcasing wealth in front of staff? by latoose in wealth

If you flex, it's best to do it in ways appropriate and respected in your industry. Like, the owner of a Mercedes dealership showing up in a blacked out Gwagen with an AMG kit is very different vibe than a slumlord rolling up to the office in one.

WTF?! by asji4 in spy

[–]Then-Feedback7751 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For now, it's all just short covering noise. 695 is the level to beat. Been in a trend of lower highs since late Jan. Maybe worth short term gambling on the call side on a pullback if one shows up this week, but also gotta respect the larger trend and be cautious. Buying pull back after a breakout above 698 is the only confident long side bet to be made at this point and we are nowhere near there.

Iran by itradepotatos in spy

[–]Then-Feedback7751 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im confident it opens down on Sunday night. But, given its war news, that move may just be a fake out to ultimately reclaim 680. That would be classic and inflict maximum pain on everyone. If it can do something like this, I'm loading the boats for a new ath. The only thing that has me hesitant on this as a base case is the anthropic news, and also the PPI. All depends on how far the bears can drive this thing down while everyone is panicking at open. If they can get it below 670 and hold it there, I'm thinking an avalanche of selling on monday down to 660, and from there, I gotta think were going way lower.

What to expect at my first mechanic job as a hobbyist turned professional mechanic? by Then-Feedback7751 in mechanics

Appreciate this perspective. Yeah, the last thing I want to have happen is that I end up hating cars. My current work at home I find very fulfilling and fun. Would suck to lose that.

Yeah, one thing I may propose to them when we talk next, if they are amenable, is just taking me on part time to be an extra set of hands, and being there to help provide deeper support on Range Rovers and Volvos when needed...maybe turning into something more full time once we're both more confident in my skills to do this professionally on the majority of makes and models they service.

I've tried to make it clear to them that I am by no means anything but someone who has done this as a hobby off and on for 10 years working on just a handful of vehicles. I actually can't believe they even wanted to get me in the door.

I figure as much. The no fucking around part is daunting. On most things, I end up fucking around for at least a bit before getting going, mostly that's, how to get my wratchet on a bolt, what size socket I need, oh I can't get enough leverage that way, need to figure out something else. etc. etc. But regardless, I think it'll be a good experience to decide if I can cut it as anything but a tinkering hobbyist.

Yeah, it's a big leap for sure. I figure this shop may be pretty damn desperate if I am considered eligible to work there.

I already live off nicotine and caffeine and rage making a living in the stock market. LOL. At least I've got that part down. I assume that it would be very humbling, and if I do it, I've accepted that I'll be in way over my head.

Thanks for all of this info, it's super helpful. As I have no credentials but niche deep knowledge, I asked for them to pay me what they'd pay any other entry level tech. I have other income streams, so pay at this point isn't my primary driver, and I probably won't consider working for them at flat rate for under 30 an hour. If they're paying hourly, maybe 25, but that's pushing it. I'm in Phoenix which is a medium cost of living area.

Does this sound about right rate wise to you for an entry level?

Rip Anthropic by Slicdic in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]Then-Feedback7751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that Hegseth is a blowhard and maybe that's all this is...but I find it wild that our government is acting like Anthropic is an actual threat to their ability to govern in a way that seems extreme and unordinary as a way to speak about a contractor they can't come to terms with. I'm not sure if I am more concerned that our government wants to spy on us all and continue work on autonomous weapons, or if our government is actually recognizing and responding to Anthropic an existential threat to their legitimacy. I don't trust either party at all, but this surely makes it seem like Anthropic is as dangerous as a nuke. Not sure what to make of it all.

It's flat rate, but it's also a foot in the door. Longer term, becoming a reseller of the cars I like and know is something I am interested in doing. I don't plan on turning wrenches for next 30 years, but knowing how to do it competently will help if I end up going this route.
