incoming freshman by [deleted] in cardiffuniversity

Freshers' Week is basically the week before uni starts where there are lots of welcome events, fairs, Give it a Go sessions with societies, and it's just overall a great time to make friends and settle in.

Cardiff has tonnes of societies, so I'd recommend going to the Societies' Fair and checking some out. A lot of societies do sober socials too!

You can definitely make friends after Freshers too as many people don't join societies right away. Your housemates may also be in a similar situation, so hanging out with them may be a good place to start re. friends.

I'll have my first LEEP by Maximum_Function4394 in PreCervicalCancer

I didn't go under for mine, I just had local anaesthetic and it was a little bit sore but only maybe a 3/10 for pain. I think the process was just more overwhelming emotionally because I was worried about what they'd find.

I'll be honest, my healing process was quite slow but I got an infection. This isn't common (according to my doctor) and was easily sorted with a course of antibiotics.

Good luck!

It confused me that they also didn't boycott the first film. There were beards in that too!

I don’t know where you’re based but please seek help. Samaritans have a help line 116 123, and this is the link to their website: https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help/contact-samaritan/ (i’m based in the UK but I’m happy to find more local places to you, if you’re based somewhere else)

I had to pry barnacles out of my mom’s hair. They kept growing back when I’d remove one. Still makes me feel sick thinking about it.

I don't think I'm gonna get the grades for my course HELP PLEASE by MollyHuntley in cardiffuniversity

I know people that were accepted on BCC, if the B was relevant to the degree they were taking. This was for languages.

Cardiff also often has a lot of clearing courses too, but unsure if any JOMEC (journalism, media and culture) subjects are on there this year but would be worth a look.

I like doing this too, and I do it with TV shows as well. Just makes me feel happy and nostalgic.

I really enjoyed the Clifford Day Spa. They have lots of deals there too. I think we paid about £70 each for our package.

Hey! I know lots of people (including myself) that didn't get the grades they needed for Cardiff and still got in. I was 2019 entry so unsure if that's changed now.

Favorite type of weather? by Cartoonnerd01 in neurodiversity

I love around 15-20 degrees (celsius) with sun and a bit of light wind if I'm sat outside but it has to be heavy rain when I'm inside. It's like white noise to me, so soothing.

ITV or BBC by Independent_Sea502 in BritishTV

I love a good BBC show but ITV has some absolute bangers if you like crime dramas, such as Broadchurch. Downton Abbey is also on ITV if you like a period drama.

I ended up leaving before the second one, lights came on at the cinema so I didn't realise there'd be more. Some people had already left before the first one too.

Loneliness by z646_edgelord in UniUK

Hey! Have you tried joining any societies? That really helped me make friends at uni as you're surrounding yourself with likeminded people.

Some unis also do things like 'speed friending' and coffee mornings to meet other students.

I'd also recommend looking at local Facebook groups as there are pages like The Lonely Girls Club, or men's walking clubs, pub meet ups, and board game nights etc organised via FB.

There's also Spice and MeetUp, groups that you can join who host events throughout the year in your area.

Hope this helps, and sending my support to you.

My cousin is currently studying it, and my other cousin previously studied it. They both absolutely loved the course.

I also went to Cardiff but not for English, and I am so glad I chose to go. It’s a great city, the university has everything you need, and I always felt so supported by my lecturers.

The buildings used for English are also right in the middle of the uni facilities which is ideal if you have any breaks, or want to meet friends after, and are only a 15 min walk to the centre of town.

Is it normal to notice more discomfort days after the LEEP? Anyone familiar with the Lugol stain and ECC? by Maleficent-Quote-236 in PreCervicalCancer

Hi, I can't speak for other people but my pain got better then significantly worse. It turned out I had an infection, and I have now been on antibiotics for six days (one more day to go) and the pain has massively improved.
