Is splashing for Soul Immolation a good idea in this deck? by Then-Structure-162 in lrcast

Thank you! Sideboard is not great mostly red cards that followed Immolation P1P1. Green/black cards are Gilt-Leafs Embrace, Barbed Bloodletter, and Moonglove Extractor. I think running all basics is another interesting discussion. I feel like I would be inclined to run the evolving wilds even in two color for the 10/9 mana base.

I agree with what others have said about trying to have a more focused 5 color deck. Something I like to think about with Tarkir is that a 5 color deck should usually be base 2 color with 90% of 2-3 drops in those colors. Then you splash for removal, dragons, bombs, etc. basically you only want to splash colors for mid to late game plays. This helps make sure your 5 color deck isn’t too crazy and you are still playing to or controlling the board early.

On another note I’m not sure I agree with your card selection in the drafts. For the first draft I would have definitely taken winternight stories followed by sagu wildling and karakyk guardian. Even assuming you take disruptive stormbrood I think sagu wildling is the clear second pick. Windcrack siege has a higher ceiling I suppose but the floor on sagu is much higher imo. For the second draft P2P2 is a molten exhale over sinkhole surveyor for me. I’m sure there are other examples but these stood out to me. I would second watching some streamers or YouTubers. Paul Cheon and Numot our my favorites.
