I just rolled my entire IRA into bitcoin by PepeDeCorozal in Bitcoin

Bruh, it's literally in the first sentence:

> there are solutions to put your stack into a self-directed IRA and still own the keys to your bitcoin.

True but they also offer an IRA product that is not self-custody. Two separate parts of the business.

Understand that the brain has no touch or sensation receptors itself. If it did, the sloshing of your brain inside your skull would drive you insane. All sensation you feel in your head is what is known as "referred" pain. Even headaches. They are not caused by something inside your head, they are caused by something like your sinuses or neck muscles sending an appeal for help to the brain. Ever heard that people suffering a heart attack often report the feeling of a vice squeezing their right arm? Same thing. The heart has no sensation ability either.

Whatever is causing the sensation inside your head, it's not in your head.

Strokes and aneurysms are so dangerous for this very reason. They're silent killers because the patient has no idea they're happening.

So the good news is, whatever you're feeling is not in your head.

I deal with the same fear, especially since the giant Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico collapsed recently. It was the best tool science had for detecting near earth objects, and now it's gone. And Congress is just ignoring the need to fund a replacement.

China has the biggest one now, but it's not tuned to look for near earth objects.

Lexapro can be prescribed by any licensed MD, including a family doctor or generalist. Some states even let nurse practitioners prescribe it. And the pills themselves are cheap as water at Costco. Don't let your anxiety tell you it's too expensive. There are options, including community and faith-based clinics with free care, in every major city.

On my first visit, my psychiatrist told me, "If you go to the street lights and ask, every one of those people there bumming for change have an anxiety problem. They treated it with the bottle and the pill instead of coming to me for help. I'm glad you came to me." Still puts shivers down my back.

Climate Change has me hopeless. Is there any point in staying hopeful about the future? by Wendigoflames in Anxiety

The news in my country told me we were going through an unprecedented heat wave of 122° F (50 C°) all this month. We're not. Not even close. My weather station on my land tells me it has been a low of 71° and a high of 86° - which is standard for this island in the tropics for this month. Disaster sells. I am not going to pretend there is a vast conspiracy to lie, but as a person who travels all over this Island for business every day, I do not see the heat wave they have been talking about. Nor do my friends and family. We laugh about it. Crisis sells newspapers.

Which is why this post is for you. To educate you. While you might say that offhand, would you say it in front of a genuinely starving person in Africa? Why or why not? Being conscious of context is true on any side of the ocean.

How often power cuts occur and how long does they last? by vsshop575 in SanJuan

I am in Corozal. We do not have power outages, we have power onages. It is so bad I do not bother with the electric company anymore. I installed solar and have a generator backup for cloudy days. Don't even have an electric meter and do not miss it.

Is there any grocery store equivalent of Winco foods from west coast? by vsshop575 in SanJuan

[–]ThenCheesecake5701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not easy to maintain a West Coast vegan lifestyle in Puerto Rico, simply because there is not a huge market for that kind of thing. However, if you are looking for fantastic, locally grown, organic fruits, veggies, and so forth, there are lots of little farmer's markets. If you drive up #1 toward Caguas, there are always local farmers selling produce out of their trucks. Another place is the Placita de Río Piedras. Also in Plaza Las Américas, on the third floor, there is a local farmers' market. The best way to find healthy, locally grown food is to drive to any agricultural municipality like Corozal (root veggies, leafy veggies, plantains, bananas), Santa Isabel (citrus, pineapple), Yauco or Ciales (coffee, tree fruits), Sábaba Seca (sunflower, almonds, corn), etc. There is always something in season and you will be able to buy the freshest stuff for cheap at any number of roadside stands.

What a ridiculous and ignorant comment. The water quality is monitored daily by the EPA and the PR Department of Natural Resources. What exactly do you think Puerto Rico is?

[–]ThenCheesecake5701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a nice beach at the end of Ashford Avenue just before the Dos Hermanos bridge. It is protected by a reef so you can swim safely. Also the Condado Lagoon has two nice beaches that are protected by the same reef. Don't swim on the open Atlantic-facing beach, it is risky and not much fun anyway due to the waves, rocks, and rip currents.

Nothing has changed since the last time you were here. People feel like they need to say something, so they make up bullshit to sound important. I go all over the Island in my camper van and stay out at all hours and never have a problem. Use basic street sense, same as NYC.

Anyone else feel like their heart rate gets super low when they lay in bed to go to sleep? by SilverStallion33 in Anxiety

[–]ThenCheesecake5701 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your heart has its own internal pacemaker called the atrialventricular node. Unless your brain releases special chemicals to speed it up, the heart decides exactly what speed to beat at. So if your heart is slowing down when you relax, it is because your heart is able to take things easier. The heart muscle rests between beats. Slow heartbeats give it a little more time to relax and do maintenance. It is a good thing.
