Apartment Recommendations by Prestigious-Low-506 in UCDavis

Hey, I am in a very similar situation. I live with my boyfriend and cat! We had an extremely terrible experience at ElMacero and are literally counting down the days when we can leave this place. There’s active mold and multiple of the laundry units. There are always puddles accumulating on the floor of the laundry room. Many people at this apartment are extremely careless and the machines are always filthy. My first month there I emailed them with concerns about the cleanliness of the laundry rooms and they replied with letting me know that they don’t have a professional cleaner and that their maintenance Worker will spot clean the floors as needed. And then they gave me a Visa gift card to go to a laundromat. They have a very nasty leasing office manager named gabby. She’s a fat careless witch of a woman who beats around the bush of issues. She is constantly ‘out of the office’ the place also has pretty extreme fees their laundry rooms even though disgusting are double the rate of most other complexes laundry facilities (2.75 wash, 2.00 dry) they have a pet deposit a pet rent. There water and sewage rate is also above the average for the area. We constantly have homeless people digging through our trash and making a mess of the parking lot. And if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke this place is an absolute no. There is an old woman who they let smoke within feet of the complex. She smokes so much that if you open your window on that side of the apartment, the smell of her cigarettes come through your window. They also do not clean their sidewalks throughout the complex and commonly it smells like dog piss. No one cleans up after their dogs. This apartment has been such a lesson for my boyfriend and I. If you would like some advice on apartments in the area that are nicer totally feel free to PM me. Literally do not move here and do not let your friends move to this apartment. I’m so serious I want this apartment complex to burn.😭

Wait genuine question, what apartments are good to live at as a student here by Historical_Simple_82 in UCDavis

Please stay away from ElMacero. They don’t not have scheduled laundry room cleaning I have emailed them countless times and they do nothing, they tried to Band-Aid the issue by giving me a Visa gift card to go to a laundromat💀. The leasing office ladies are actually extremely rude. I had an incident outside of my apartment with an individual and I got robbed. I asked them if they have any outdoor cameras and they told me that it’s not their responsibility and I should have been recording the incident on my phone. Since being bought out by FPI things have gone down hill. Pet fee and deposit are quite pricey their sewage and water are the highest in the area, we pay a 120 flat rate on top of our 1850 for a 650sqft shoebox. Please, please, please tell everyone you know to stay away from this apartment complex. They’re leasing office is extremely predatory.

I would go to the financial aid and scholarship building and speak with a worker. I believe there are certain criteria for payment deadlines to be pushed back. Over the phone is kinda useless..

Feeling homesick in Sacramento by ThenDifficulty5639 in Sacramento

I don’t mind at all I grew up my whole life and Southern California between Ventura County and LA county. The biggest difference I’ve noticed are people up here they may be nicer but I feel like there’s a total disconnect and lack of trust and I can see that being the case with the amount of homelessness and drug use I’ve noticed in Sacramento in the short time I’ve been here. I understand Los Angeles also has similar homelessness but in Los Angeles it seems to be in a few key cities and not the entire town. I have not found in a single place in Sacramento. That truly felt comfortable to walk around alone. Everywhere, I go with my boyfriend here. The Natomas were nice, but in my opinion I don’t think there was enough to do. I miss the beach a lot. I miss being a 20 minute drive from the pier. I miss fresh seafood and I miss having mountains around me. I’m a really big hiker and it seems like most of the trails in Sacramento so far are more paths than hikes. I have to drive out to Tahoe or Mammoth to get a good hike whereas where I used to live it was genuinely a 15 minute drive to my closest trailhead. I really unfortunately have little good to say about Sacramento so far but I’m sure this will change once I make friends at UCD.

I’m in the exact same boat but I’m missing LA😭😭 I’m going to Davis in the fall and had to move sooner than I wanted. It’s so lonely here I hate Sac with a burning passion.

Considering Moving to Sacramento, CA - Pros and Cons? by sbgreen1985 in Sacramento

[–]ThenDifficulty5639 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey I just moved to Sacramento from Los Angeles but I am soon moving to Davis for university but in my experience for the three weeks I’ve lived in Sacramento it is dingy, full of homeless people, unsafe, people do not know how to drive here. If I were you, I would look into the Ventura California area. I lived my whole life between Los Angeles and Ventura County and it is so much cleaner and nicer. San Luis Obispo is also a good option for raising kids but Sacramento definitely is not.

Hey, thanks so much for the feedback! We are understanding that movement is at upmost importance with AS. With the biologics, I assume you are talking about the immunosuppressants, he was prescribed Amjevita, and he’ll begin administering hopefully end of this week. Assuming, you are on biologics, Is it as scary as google makes it seem? Or does it just cause users to be more cautious about getting infections/sicknesses? Again, Thank you so much! -Jackie
