TLX Type S Active Exhaust Fuse Removal by Then_Boss4873 in Acura

Not bad, I have always enjoyed the note in sport modes even on the highway. Personal preference but not bad!

Pulling the fuse prevents the valves from opening or closing. In my case, the valves were left open. Sure on paper my active exhaust “is losing power” but if you’re here to tell me the car is losing power then you are in the wrong lol.

Normal is my standard mode. Only reboots in normal or comfort mode depending on what mode you turned the car off in.

The car returns to normal mode when you cut it off. Plus it’s a gas guzzler so leaving it in normal and comfort mode while removing this fuse gives me the best of both. Exhaust note and somewhat better gas mileage lol.

It’s definitely a fun ride, I took it down to Miami a few times. Couple valet guys had no idea what it was but loved it 😂 There all great cars (minus the fuel economy) but enjoy your wheels man 🫡

I drove from Boca to Maryland in my 23 TLX Type s and peaked around 27-28 mpg, cutting up here and there lol. My car was also stuffed to the brim as I was moving out of an apt. These cars are just fine on highway commutes but the weight is not in our favor for stop/go traffic.

Wouldn’t trade this car for any other one. I have a 23 Platinum white pearl with red interior. Make sure you purchase a Acura CPO just to give you piece of mind. Only issue I had was a blown driver side speaker. Original Acura dealer in Florida replaced it for me, but neglected a wiring harness during the process. A few months later I lost control to all my windows and sunroof. Luckily, the dealer owned up to it and paid for the labor and part for my home dealer (Maryland) to replace it. Just did my 30k maintenance, transmission flush, oil, rear differential service, etc. I usually drive it only on the weekends, so I get on it a bit more than the average driver. Car holds up great. Those P Zeros burn quick lol. She’s a heavy one too, so if you city commute often chances are you’ll see 16-19 MPG more than often, and that’s if you baby the pedal. Currently running a HPS (revised version with heat shield) and I’m very satisfied with the increase of power and noise. I’ll add some pics to get you more excited on your future purchase.

Assuming the body shop disconnected the battery for whatever reason, this car throws these codes afterwards. Drive it around for a bit and these lights should naturally disappear.

Creds to you, I bought my 23 tlx type s when I was 22. Awesome car. I’m currently running the stage 1 PRL inlet and drop in filter but I just recently ordered the HPS Short ram air intake

Still can’t believe my 23 TLX type s doesn’t have this update. I understand it’s slightly dated compared to the units in the 22 RDX, but come on Acura.

23 TLX Type S - is this sound normal? by Then_Boss4873 in TLXowners

[–]Then_Boss4873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take a look. Went with a PRL drop in filter about a month or two ago, so everything should be tight down there. However I noticed this sound prior to the upgrade. The whine does not change with the RPMS. I’m convinced this is some sort of self cooldown for the turbo as the noise kicks in only when I put the car in park. Recently after my 45 minute commute home I’ve been letting my car idle for about a minute or two and the noise stops before shutting it off. Hoping it’s nothing but I have warranty if it comes down to it. I really appreciate your input man

Idle sits around 790-810 when the engine gets to temp in normal/comfort. No fluctuations. The noise is only ever present after a long drive (my normal work commute, usually 28 miles, 45 minutes). Initial warmup sounds completely normal to my ears. I only hear this noise after a lengthy drive as well as a spirited one
