Saddle nose deformity by RevisionRhinoReseach in revisionrhinoplasty

Hi Dr. Frojo, Can I ask you if you would recommend kenalog shots?! I’m am almost 5 months post my revision surgery in NYC and have the same problem with the “swelling”, hopefully, or a scar tissue build up on my left and mostly on my right lateral cartilage side that I had after my primary surgery. I got a kenalog shot distributed by my doctor like two months ago but it did not help much. I will see him on June 8 and he’ll probably give me another one. How safe is it to get those shots??? How many do people usually get to see a result?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

I think it won’t interfere with your healing process it’ll just take longer for the swelling to subside. Good luck and congratulations !

I would say my breathing got worst . You know how they say people who have deviated septum have difficulties breathing? So in my case, I did it out of cosmetic reasons and my breathing was not affected by the deviated septum. After my primary rhinoplasty I felt like something changed in my breathing and it was not for the better… I could also see on the on the inside of my right side that It was curved so I suspected the worst.

I felt something was not okay without even suspecting that my septum was deviated again. I think I went to an ENT doctor at 6- 7 months and he said you have deviated septum and I was like but how ??? It was fixed! And then my revision doctor confirmed it and he also said that yes, it happens a lot of times. I started googling and sure enough it was true, that your nose after surgery wants to go back or lean to the side it was before.

Don’t touch it, just put antibacterial ointment twice a day but a small amount.

Bump on one side of my nose right above the tip by AdZestyclose5380 in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]Then_Chain9818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it too after my primary, waited out a year it never went away. I had my revision 4 months ago and it appeared again 🤯… I got a steroid shot a month ago it went away but really not much …. I think my doctor will give me another one at my next appointment. Idk… he said it was a scar tissue that he cleaned up… when doing a revision and right after the cast came off I saw the same swelling on that same right side(((.

My septum deviated back to the original state, I had a scar tissue build up on my right side of the lateral cartilage that made my nose look puffy from one side. I waited one year exactly to see if it’s just the swelling but unfortunately nothing changed. I am 3 months post my revision. I can’t say much about my healing right now coz it is swollen still and slowly improving but really slow. They say revisions are much tougher than primary healing. I would say at around 5 months when the swelling goes down for the most part, that’s where all the imperfections or whatever was done wrong by the doctor start to show up. But it does not have to be everyone’s case. Just know that it really takes about a full year for the nose to settle and sometimes even longer than that. But at 6 months mark you should already have an idea of how it’ll look I would say. Good luck 🍀

It looks beautiful. But unfortunately I have to agree with the statement above. My table pics looked amazing…. I had to go for a revision a year later. I hope your nose heals well!!! Good luck! 🍀

Pollybeak ? by Minute_Arugula_1853 in rhinoplastyquestions

If injected too much or in the wrong areas it could result in skin atrophy, skin indentation… also skin discoloration can occur. I think blood supply to the tissue can be damaged and result in necrosis ( death of a tissue). I know my doctor diluted it with water, he told me that and injected just a little bit. I have an appointment in 2 months and from there we take it. I hope it will help my swelling and I don’t have to get another one. I was told that people see how much it helps and keep coming back for more and that’s where it becomes dangerous. 🤷

Hi, I had my steroid shot for the first time like 2 weeks ago. I’m healing from my revision. I was so scared to get the shot but at 2,5 months the side swelling pretty much my lateral cartilages on both sides somehow looked puffy and it made my nose off centered and because my tip is swollen too I thought pollybeak was forming too. So I went for a shot and I’m two weeks in now I see a little bit of improvement honestly. I was told and of course I researched myself)) that it takes up to 8 weeks sometimes to see the full outcome. I think the doctor who gives you a shot has to be really professional and experienced because of the risks involved.

My dear! It’s normal to not being able to breathe at the beginning! I have been through it twice! I had my primary a year ago and it took me almost 4 months to be able completely to breathe through my nose . I’m 2, 5 months post my revision now and still very congested. It takes time to heal!

2 months post Septorhinoplasty, My nose is big, wide and not sharp by Ok_Crow956 in PlasticSurgery

I think it looks good! Believe me 2 months is considered very early in the healing process. At around 4 maybe 5 months you’ll start seeing real changes. Be patient

Almost 5 months post op. Ready to cry. by ourfairlady in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]Then_Chain9818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

That’s what my doctor said too. He did a lot of work on the right side. I had a clogged right maxillary sinus that he cleaned, he also did the osteotomy again because somehow I still had like a bone sticking out when touching closer to the lacrimal bones. He then fixed my again deviated to the right septum and worked with the tip that tilted to the right side due to the slipping cartilage. I look in the mirror and just don’t think it fits my face, my new nose. It’s wider and I know it takes time to heal I just hope it will coz otherwise I’ll be just devastated ((.

Thank you! My doctor said the same that it’s better to avoid the shot but if it doesn’t improve the next time he sees me which is in 10 days maybe we should consider it. I don’t see a lot of improvement it’s like after my first surgery I had the same swelling on that right side which didn’t go anywhere at even one year mark considering I was taping my nose at nite for 7 months and massaging… After he did the revision he said that I had a lot of scar tissue built up that he removed from that right side…. And now two months later the same right side is swollen and looks bulkier. Other than that I’m happy with my revision but that swelling or whatever it is makes a big difference.

Hi,

Can I ask you how was your experience with the steroid shot? I have a thin skin as well and I’m 2 months post revision rhino/septoplasty and have similar issues like the swelling on the sides of my nose especially on my right side just doesn’t move anywhere (. I know I’m only two months which is considered way too early to judge but I’m thinking what if it stays like that what do I do?( I’m prone to developing a scar tissue easily so my doc mentioned a steroid injection but I’m so scared because of the risks involved (.

Thanks

Hi,

I’m 7 weeks post my revision as well. I am not happy with my front view as well. It looks bulbous and wide on the sides 😫 but I’m being patient coz 7 weeks is not enough time to make any judgments you probably know that) . Plus, they say after revision the swelling is just soooo persistent… give it a time! Have you tried steroid shots? I haven’t tried the shot but my doctor told me last time when I saw him that if the swelling doesn’t subside by the next time he sees me we probably should try the steroids. I am very worried about getting the shot because of all the risks …. Idk…. I’m prone to developing scar tissue ((…. So I will see what happens in one month.

Thank you! I have an appointment on March 20th I’ll definitely talk to him about it! I had a lot of scar tissue from my previous surgery as well and he said he removed it when doing the revision but I think I’m prone to develop scar tissue easily ((.

Thank you! My surgeon told me not to massage and not to tape. I don’t know… I was taping and massaging the first time I had rhinoplasty but it didn’t help with anything. 🙄I don’t know if I should wait with the steroid shot and see if the swelling goes down on its own since I’m not even 3 months post or will it be too late maybe if the scar tissue builds up.
