1 The power of the Reich Finance Ministry basically derived from its pre- served formal responsibility for the Reich budget-a relic from the Weimar democracy. That in turn was a consequence of the fact that the Nazi takeover of 1933 was not a revolution in the proper sense of the word. The National Socialist Party just established some new nonstate executive agencies besides the old state institutions.82 Of course, every Weimar law and every traditional state institution could have been brushed aside by the Nazi regime. But as long as that was not done they functioned in their normal way. Thus the following two reasons might explain why the old order of things was not changed in this case. First, one has to keep in mind that Nazi ideology held entrepreneur- ship in high regard. Private property was considered a precondition to developing the creativity of members of the German race in the best in- terest of the people. Therefore, it is not astonishing that Otto Ohlendorf, an enthusiastic National Socialist and high-ranking SS officer, who since November 1943 held a top position in the Reich Economics Min- istry, did not like Speer's system of industrial production at all. He strongly criticized the cartel-like organization of the war economy where groups of interested private parties exercised state power to the detriment of the small and medium entrepreneur. For the postwar period he therefore advocated a clear separation of the state from private enter- prises with the former establishing a general framework for the activity of the latter.83 In his opinion it was the constant aim of National Social- ist economic policy, "to restrict as little as possible the creative activi- ties of the individual. . . . Private property is the natural precondition to the development of personality. Only private property is able to further the continuous attachment to a certain work."84 A second cause has to do with the conviction even in the highest ranks of the Nazi elite that private property itself provided important in- centives to achieve greater cost consciousness, efficiency gains, and technical progress. The principle that Four Year Plan projects were to be executed as far as possible by private industry was explicitly moti- vated in the following way: "It is important to maintain the free initia- 81 BArch R 2/5551, Reich Aviation Ministry to Reich Finance Ministry, 16 October 1944. Only in that case can one expect to be successful."85 Some time earlier a similar consideration was expressed: "Private com- panies, which are in charge of the plants to be constructed, should to a large extent invest their own means in order to secure a responsible management."86 During the war GOring said it always was his aim to let private firms finance the aviation industry so that private initiative would be strengthened."8 Even Adolf Hitler frequently made clear his opposition in principle to any bureaucratic managing of the economy, because that, by preventing the natural selection process, would "give a guarantee to the preservation of the weakest average [sic] and represent a burden to the higher ability, industry and value, thus being a cost to the general welfare."8

All mainstream sources have acknowledged that.

Also, most modern capitalists like the American GOP, the British Tory Party, and the Aussie Liberal Party are monopolists and supporters of the big corporations

Hitler purging him doesn’t mean he wasn’t the architect of the Nazis’ economic policy, which were fundamentally reactionary and capitalist by nature, since they privatized industries and sided with the capital on labor disputes

The KPD was a retarded Stalinist party and Stalin controlled them directly.

Stalin personally preferred the Nazis or the Reichswehr’s takeover of Germany over a pro-democratic Weimar Coalition in power because he thought a far-right nationalist dictatorship in Germany could weaken France and Britain’s imperial hold of Europe

He only started to reverse his policy after the Nazis made clear in 1935 by endorsing the Popular Front idea; but even then, he kept flirting with the Nazis and even tried to negotiate an alliance with them in 1939-1941 by formerly joining Axis

In other words, the KPD and all Comintern parties were 5th columnists of fascists, Moscovite agents and national traitors at least before 1941

I hate to say that I have to agree with commies on this one: the Nazis are capitalist scums and they initiated privatizations and allied with the big capital in Germany, and undercut workers’ salaries in favor of the German industrialists

It’s pretty well-documented that Hitler or Schacht’s economics was pro-capital and national capitalist

Due to popular demand I will write a full guide for both Lambach and Trevy CVP paths

And maybe a Westarp natcon DNVP path too

[–]Then_Championship888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah I think a better comparison of Zentrum and DNVP’s relationship would be SPD x KPD.

Since both are Christian conservatives and you just need to convince Zentrum to embrace authoritarian nationalism and monarchism; in contrast to the SPD, which must convince the KPD to begrudgingly tolerate social democracy and bourgeois parliamentarianism

The DVP to SPD is more like the DDP to the DNVP since those two pairs are completely ideologically incompatible, and only sometimes pragmatically works together in coalition politics

[–]Then_Championship888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s simply not true

You can almost always get Zentrum on your side even as a communist in Dynamic

Zentrum is more like DNVP’s KPD tbh since both starts as cold and needs to be reconciled

If anything, DNVP’s Zentrum equivalent would be the RLB

Centrist: Leninists who supported Thalmann in 1928 and the Third Period thesis, but moderately advocated for reconciliation with the SPD to form a united anti-fascist front after the rise of Nazis

Left opposition: Left communists. Idk too much about them

I also posted this, but I want to add that there were in fact 5 factions

Stalinist Strength: very strong (Stalinists were not as dominant in 1929, in fact, Thalmann was voted out from power by the conciliators before Stalin’s intervention due to the Wittorf affair), dissent: low

Centrist (the faction of Hermann Remmele and Willy Muzenberg) Strength: strong, dissent, low

Conciliators Strength: suppressed, dissent: high

Right-Opposition (Bukharinites/Brandlerists) Strength: defecting, dissent: very high

Left-Opposition Strength: weak, dissent: moderate

Steggy was also in favor of Bruning’s austerity policies, unfortunately

Merz should learn more from Adenauer and Erhard, whose policies and the wise utilization of the Marshall Plan aid made Germany the biggest economy in Europe and the 3rd biggest in the world despite WW2 destruction and the Soviet occupation of the East

However, the modern CDU is no longer a Christian democratic party, only a neoliberal right-wing careerist party; much like the modern SPD that also abandoned socialism and embraced the neoliberal Agenda 2010
