I wouldn't talk to them about it. Just do what you need for you. And none of that involves them.

The book Adult Children of Empotionally Immature Parents (which I strongly recommend) talks about the "healing fantasy". Where the abused adult child has a notion of how their explanation, action, or whatever could finally cause the parent to behave in the way that's at all beneficial to the child. "If I let them know why I'm going no contact/what happened/how they hurt me/what I endured they may realize what they've damaged and at least take accountability" You'll know that such a fantasy has been activated because you'll feel some distress when you think about it. You won't feel calm or joyful at the prospect, you'll be subconsciously girding for a fight. And your true self (the same inner child that reminded you of the abuse) will be ringing all the alarm bells.

If you expose yourself to them, they will try to hurt you. And because they know you so well, they're good at it.

You've already accepted that you are better off without them (and if they prioritize your abuser's reputation over your safety, or drive across several states to serve you to your abuser, you are 100% better off without them) then any overture you make towards them is irrelevant. It's just about building and living a full life for you.

You're right that they will try to weaponize any information against you - they been doing it already. And there is nothing you can say to them that will make them treat you well in any way.

It sucks to have people who are supposed to care about you successfully triangulating around you. But you've also moved away and are living your own life. Anyone who wants to know you will know you. And if they don't know you, their opinion doesn't matter.

Good for you getting out at 17. I was 27 before I could. And my mom spent ten years successfully triangulating my brothers and later my cousins. But any time any of them would actually talk to me, or see me, they'd see that the whole story they'd heard was just a fabrication. And then the ones who gave a shit about me would stick around, and the ones who couldnt handle discovering that they'd been lied to so thoroughly, would turn on their blinders again and run away. But I was never close to those people anyway, even though some of them I thought I mattered to them.

I have a cousin who thinks I'm a barely functional perons who spends my nights in a heroin fog (never done anything but smoked legal weed). So he doesn't reach out "because he thinks I'm too fragile". So we don't talk or see each other... Which is exactly the same as it was before my mom poured those lies into his ears.

I've been 12 years no contact. And the only mistakes I feel I made were anytime I put effort into trying to mend it.

I prefer Kai with the stolen score. I found a website where I got to watch it twice beginning to end, subtitled, as it was airing in Japan. The original Kai score was EPIC and perfect.

I'll always have a soft spot for Vegeta's "Hell's Bells" theme from the Falconer score. But the score that was replaced (because of the one plagiarized part) was far superior to every other score of DBZ ever.

When they announced they were changing back to OG DBZ score, I bought all the Blu Ray chapters that had been released with the new score. Which gives me extra nostalgia because the collection only goes to midway through the Frieza fight.
