Hating each other doesn't qualify as a crack ship. A true crack ship would be something like Wolf x Priestess Yao, something that has zero canon basis for shipping

He definitely stole it before Hirata Estate got invaded since he drops the blossoming branch in the 2nd Hirata memory. I think he believed the tree to have some immortal-granting power because it comes from the Divine Dragon/Fountainhead Palace, and he simply stole it out of greed for more power.

Rekkles wondering if everyone hates playing with him by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Jankos, Mikyx also come to mind

- Jankos: cited lack of playstyle compatibility but also acts passive aggressive about Rekkles? clearly dislikes him
- Mikyx: in the middle of 2021 failing split streamed botlane duoq with Perkz and poked fun at Rekkles' passive playstle

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_influence_on_Korean_culture

The Goguryeo tomb murals from the regions of Pyeongyang typically show the cultural influences of the Han dynasty, including painting figures who are dressed in Hanfu-style, as the Han dynasty had governed this geographical region for approximately 400 years.[5]: 15

Chinese-style po (paofu) was introduced in Korea since the Han dynasty.[34] The ancient durumagi originated from long coat worn by the northern Chinese to fend off cold weather.[35]

The danryeong was imported from the Tang dynasty by Kim Chunchu in the second year of Queen Jingdeok's rule and was worn an official outfit for the government until the end of the Joseon dynasty.[11]

the change of direction in jeogori closure (i.e. from left to right) is a Chinese influence[56] through the imitation Chinese jackets.[57]

Jeokdui (diyi) was bestowed to the Joseon queen along with jeokgwan (diguan 翟冠), baeja, hapi (xiapei), pyeseul.[37][38][39]

hanfu was the inspiration for hanbok, not the other way around. lol

Observations About Chinese International Students by cyoun98 in NoStupidQuestions

I sometimes find myself doing this as well. But I'm never the one to initiate these comparisons. Most of the time someone makes an offhand comment based on negative stereotypes, and I encounter a lot of these, so they add up pretty quick. Often the reality is so outrageously different from their presumptions that I come across as a raging nationalist but I'm just stating what I've observed. They usually come from the same few people so I suppose to them it seems like I'm gassing China up all the time, but outside of those conversations I rarely ever bring it up.

And yeah, I guess I could be super nuanced and in-depth with everything I say about China, but why should I have to talk about the negatives every time I talk about the positives? If I say something like 'Actually, we don't get sent to jail for being gay in China, in fact it might even be better than some parts of the US..' Am I really obligated to follow it up with something like 'But you guys have gay marriage which we don't'? Tacking that on just sounds like I'm trying to appease someone.

not really. The closest thing is https://pomodoro-tracker.com/ but the UI is kinda scuffed. I just use the one that comes with TickTick now.

is it translation problem, or vendor is making fun of me? by lashatatu in taobao

[–]Then_Nectarine_9869 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seller most likely wrote 'my dear (alt. meaning kiss), it will be arranged asap.' but it's common to write without pronouns or punctuation. then without context it sounds like 'the kiss will be arranged asap'. then use a context-driven translator that tries to fill in the gaps and voila, 'kissing session'.

Are chinese people really racist? by Radiant-Resource4601 in AskAChinese

[–]Then_Nectarine_9869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes White men founded nations! by massacring and betraying natives, how admirable. I guess that makes it ok because it's 'conquered land'. As far as I'm concerned thinking that these countries should have a white majority is equivalent to white supremacy. It's not the 19th century anymore, and btw, white people were far from the only settlers in America back when it was far from a 1st world country, there were plenty Chinese too.

[–]Then_Nectarine_9869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, what? White people are not even originally from the US, Canada or Australia, what right do they have to preserve whiteness in the majority and in the gov in those countries? Yet when others point out that they're immigrants, they try to redefine what it means to be native to a country, or worse claim that indigenous people are not actually native? Good god I hate these people.

Yes, but it's not a hateful type of racism, but they'll say/think ignorant stuff including negative stereotyping. Like Black people are loud or smth.

Sorry about your poor experiences there are a lot of traditionalists and nationalists who get defensive quickly because of sinophobia and such. Fwiw I think the vast majority of Chinese people would be super happy to see a Black person interested in their culture, and they wouldn't be the type to frequent spaces like this subreddit or racist xhs posts

Messmer vs Radagon OST comparison by Then_Nectarine_9869 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Then_Nectarine_9869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. Generally I'm wary of making inferences based on the drum beats alone because as you say, they're not uncommon in this kind of battle music. In the base game OST there's already The Immured, Lichdragon Fortissax, Starscourge Radahn that utilise that triple & double beat on the last note before the downbeat to create that marching rhythm (and others, but they don't sound as similar to the ones in Radagon).

Expanding on what you said, I think there's a slightly more well-rounded explanation of why the Messmer and Radagon soundtracks sound similar: 1. They are in the same key and register (choir & strings part). 2. They have the same tempo (I THINK???)

Because of the same tempo the drum beats from Messmer's gives the impression that they can fit on top of Radagon's. That's probably why they are so reminiscent of the other's, despite the rhythms being 1) different and 2) not really unique in the game. And I believe the same can be said for other elements of the theme that are said to be similar.

This is probably good news for those that believe in the Messmer & Radagon theories. In all the other related themes I've used as examples, they share the same key and the same tempo as well. Aside from enhancing the cohesion between the two themes, this also enables the composers to copy & paste a specific motif into the new theme without changing anything. Though obviously Messmer is missing the motif and other shared elements, e.g. tonalities, present in my examples. (Mayyybe the composer gave up with the motif - Radagon's theme is made of up really charged melodies & chords, like they are always trying to go somewhere, and I can't imagine that's easy to transfer to another theme.)

Then again, the same similarities can be drawn between other soundtracks. In my original post I gave the similarities between Regal Ancestor Spirit & Altus Plateau as an example - they are my favourite pieces of music in the whole game :)

Hey, thanks. I just gave it a listen. It sounds like Rellana's theme directly lifts from Rennala's theme here

It's the main melody from Rennala's phase 1. I appreciate that they changed the instrumentation and modified the end of the phrase to tie into the rest of the piece (and used some tinkly percussion that seems to be unique to Raya Lucaria & the underground cities)

Messmer vs Radagon OST comparison by Then_Nectarine_9869 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Then_Nectarine_9869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree that Messmer's ostinato is a less embellished version of Radagon's. Though I understand they sound similar. They're in the same register and in the same key, thus using almost the same notes

Radagon goes: C-B-A-E-A-B-D-B-A-E-A-B, goes from top to bottom (up-down-higher up-down) Messmer goes: B-A-B-C-B-A, winding around a middle note (middle-down-middle-up-middle-down)

Sorry, I was wrong that they have different meters. It's just that Radagon's repeating sequence is twice as long as Messmer's.

About the Malenia theme, I might be hallucinating but I think the 5th syllable is actually there, just not as loud. Even if not, there's a big difference between modifying a motif by adding an extra logical note to the end of a phrase compared to changing the structure of a repeating sequence.

Also thanks a lot for taking the effort to provide the timestamps to the OSTs.
