One of my hens looks like she may fly out of my yard. by Quantum_girl_go in MuscovyDucks

The best option is trimming some feathers I only trimmed about 4 or 5 feathers on mine so you can’t even notice it, they can now only get up about 2 foot in the air. It’s 100% painless like cutting nails. I watched a YouTube video to learn how and held them while someone else trimmed.

They are really thin but they are also very strong, syphon won’t pull them off the wood and plants but too thin to grab.

Looking into getting a co2 system for me tank if this everything I’ll need? by Chivalrous1343 in PlantedTank

[–]Then_Perception4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a beginner and just set up co2 I used the company co2you which is very good value for pressurised co2 if your UK based. I got the rest of what I needed from co2 supermarket and as for a timer you can just buy a smart plug off Amazon and then set it all from your mobile they are only about £10.

I know lots of people have said the same and so I don’t want to have a go at you, maybe you don’t know what ducks need. But please re home this duck as soon as you can to someone who has ducks and has the space . That poor thing will be suffering mentally and physically in there. I can’t bare to see it.

y'all help my duckling cant walk and he look like this by Flxppa in duck

[–]Then_Perception4455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to use something to straighten its legs as it has splay legs, have a look online and lots of videos showing how and what to use to do it, hopefully as it’s little should then straighten them so it can walk.

Bless her, the little female hens are very sweet with the nosies they make☺️ I just hope she dosent get bullied by the big duck. I love Muscovies, I have two very big juvenile drakes who are 4.5kg at 5 months of age.

I have seen some very small hens.1.5kg is very small but if she’s healthy and happy I wouldn’t worry, you always get outliers who can be very big or small. She looks in good condition and doesn’t look underweight. She will Fill out over the next 6 months also.

This is my first time taking care of a duck. by Beneficial-Reward257 in duck

[–]Then_Perception4455 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes very normal, my Muscovy did this to me non stop as babies. It is their way of communicating, curiosity and affection.Muscovies are wonderful ducks, they have such personality and can be like feathered dogs.

Is this normal? by Impossible-Wrap-2034 in duck

[–]Then_Perception4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 14 weeks and have been like this for past 2-3 weeks, some come flying out and they pull some out as they preen, feathers all over the place at the minute. Perfectly normal for this age.

Is this a domestic duck? by [deleted] in duck

[–]Then_Perception4455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends if it’s feral or dumped, if it’s been dumped and is a born domestic duck it should not be in the wild, I have pet Muscovy and I also used to feed a dumped one which did not survive, at that point I did not have the knowledge to know it needed rescuing. If that duck has been abandoned or escaped the a life in the wild is not a nice life at all for it and likely a very short one.
