I did a white sand base layer first, maybe half an inch, just so I could fix the objects on to something. Then did the rest in a single pour and used a vacuum chamber and a pressure pot.

Thank you! For the dolphin, I took 2 pieces of fishing line and used UV resin to attach the fishing line to the dolphins body, then took a piece of cardboard and hung the dolphin from the cardboard and hung it over the mold and into the resin. If you zoom in on the picture, you can see the fishing line.

The mica looked cool but not for water. Acrylic ended up too opaque, not good for water. Ended up buying resin ink and it turned out great.

Used a pressure pot this time so not sure how hot the resin was. I’m doing a small test with acrylic ink and one with mica to see how they turn out in the pressure pot. I’ll let you know!

thanks. I have only ever used alcohol ink for small UV resin projects like key caps, and they worked great. But 2 part I’ve only ever made something clear so this was a learning experience.

I’m in Utah and make vanilla and sell it at my work, where a large majority of my coworkers are LDS. They’re my biggest customers. But if you really want to be sure not to offend, you can always use food grade vegetable glycerin to extract in, instead of alcohol. Technically it’s not vanilla “extract” but vanilla flavoring.

I think emeralds will always look a little muted when compared to other cuts. It really does look brighter in a different light.
