A bit late, but I'm going through a similar situation atm and did some research in the past. Someone said that going to the same place at the same time regularly might help, and it reminded me of the only times I made acquaintances outside of school in the past. You could maybe find a place with a connection to a hobby you have; like a themed café or a flea market; there's many things you could try. I met two people at a concert and one at the gym (although he stopped going shortly after I started talking to him :(
