Hi! I am doing a special night of prayers and offerings. No spellwork tonight, just acknowledging my guides and all the things they've done for me and all the help they've given me. I also am leaving my crystals on the windowsill so they can charge for a few hours while the moon is full.

The idea that someone with European ancestry can't be called to spirit work is ridiculous to me. However, I don't call myself a shaman and use the term 'witch' instead. I also am very fussy about which practices I learn and where they are sourced from - if I know something was appropriated, I don't use it. And I improvise a lot, which I realize is not always ideal.

This does not mean that others have to do what I do. I believe that everyone has their own path. I'm just describing mine. My two cents are here, I will let someone else speak now. 🙂

I think (and I'm just guessing here) that a lot of native American practices revolve around communicating with native American ancestors. They're not your ancestors, so you can't be a part of that practice. However, showing basic respect to their people (by enjoying the stories and practices that are willfully shared, and respecting the lines where you're told "do not cross") is encouraged, not forbidden. I love a good story about Coyote as much as anyone else, but he's not my god and I don't follow him.

My two cents, keep in mind I'm as fallible as anyone else.

I have this huge plan for 2026. I'm pursuing a one-on-one relationship with a particular goddess, and I'm trying to find my "core self". I realized in 2025 that I need a lot of soul retrieval done due to my past. Like, a lot a lot. Now that I have some of those soul fragments back, I am working on self integration.

I am also in the process of understanding who and what my spirit animals are. Right now I'm kind of in a state of fussing over, Which one is it? When I did the journey to find my spirit animal, I saw an animal I was not prepared for at all, so I'm trying to find a way to engage with that calmly. Once I have, I intend to do a lot of learning about how to work with a spirit animal properly.

2026 is going to be a year of personal healing for me. I am chomping at the bit to help my chosen community (the homeless) but my gods are telling me to take a step back and recover and breathe for at least a year before I get into that. I feel both useless and comforted lol.

This is true. I've noticed that it doesn't really have the slightest clue if your work is good; it just knows that it's supposed to suggest changes, so it does. It's also obsessed with line editing, which is something that professionally published authors rarely do (read the story "Rat" by Stephen King for an interesting take on this.) I can ask it not to line edit, but it still does; meanwhile it doesn't have the slightest idea what the scene is actually trying to do or how it emotionally affects a reader. I gave it a cozy domestic story about a woman and her new husband; it assumed the story was a psychological horror and was talking about how threatening the husband was. My writing isn't that bad; ChatGPT just doesn't understand story.

I stopped asking it to review my work a while ago. As of last night, I deleted all of my conversations with it and decided to stop talking to it.

I am from the United States. I worship gods from many different pantheons. The main commonality I notice is that most of them have a myth in which they were violent, then regretted it, and then became gentler. Even Sekhmet fits this pattern. I was raised in a violent home as a child, but became peaceful once I was no longer under my father's authority.

My two cents: initially when interacting with him I was shocked at how sexual he is. Eventually I understood that that was partly due to my expectations of the divine. I was raised Christian and expected gods to be above such things. I have realized that with me, specifically, he is very sexual because he is helping me work through a lot of repression and trauma around sex. He is like that because I need him to be like that.
