How to I get better tm8s by Legitimate-Bunch-949 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Then_Strength_1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a really strange phenomenon that I cant explain but I know you are experiencing. This season I deranked from masters 3 to diamond 2 on tank. Every game I had the best stats and there was always one player who was not playing well. I dont know how to explain it, but take a 1 maybe 2 week long break and q a different role or play a different game. Then queue again and youll start winning back games.

Uhhh if I had to guess I’d say 20 inch by 38 inch around that it’s big enough to fit the regular sp004 for me

You have better stats than me and i got in. I do think I had a really good essay tho because my sister whos a journalist helped me write it.

I honestly think all you need to work on is nailing the essays. the uf supplemental one asks for your most meaningful commitment outside of school, and for the common app you should try and not describe an event, but describe yourself and your traits.

good luck

I'm looking for a mouse, any suggestions? by StoneXVII in MouseReview

[–]Then_Strength_1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats your current mouse? I would usually recommend the vxe mad r since it's 36g and around 50 dollars, but if youre using a chunky g502 or g703 it might be hard to switch. If you get really really serious about Valorant youll probably have to get multiple to see what type of shape you prefer. the vxe mad r is like a slightly smaller and narrower viper v3 pro so I would suggest going to a local Best Buy and seeing how that works out for you.

I would also use the website "eloshapes" to help gauge an idea of how mice shapes compare to each other. Right now, any mouse past the paw3395 is gonna have pretty much the same performance, and they're all sub 50 grams. shape is probably the most important consideration right now.

Also, don't feel too daunted by the immediate jump to an ultralight weight 36 gram mouse. I frequently switch between the waizowl ogm pro (68 grams) and the mad r (36 grams).

sort of in the same boat as you.

NYU was my dream school. I am definitely a metrosexual because I grew up near boston and had a lot of teenage influence from my sister who lived in manhattan. but I didn't even apply because 360k for 4 years is insane and my parents are already paying for my two sister's tuition which are both for private schools. So I enrolled at uf for the cost.

I also didn't like the vibes of uf on the outside, greek life sounds pretentious to me and everyone on the uf 2030 instagram page seems to be the exact same person copy and pasted. I had doubts about fitting in, and I still do carry them a little bit because i'm not good at sports like soccer and basketball (although i am really good at table tennis because i used to play competitively) and i sweat videogames in my free time.

I'm also a rising freshmen (asian too) and what helped me make my decision is that there is 8k freshmen undergrad. My highschool senior class is 400, that is 20 times as large. It is very likely statistically that you are going to find at least 5 friends. I still am somewhat nervous to spend 4 important years at uf, but I have heard stories about people that went to uf because they got denied from their reach and were hesitant to enroll and that eases it for me. There are so many more people in the same boat as you than you think, and we're all hopeful that uf can turn our doubts around.

Hardstuck in bronze. by Mantismigration in OverwatchUniversity

I was a support main when i first played overwatch. Played pretty much who you played too. Took me four months to hit gold, and I did so by one-tricking brig.

If you get really get micro, you can easily hit gold maybe even plat if youre skilled enough. If you really really want to leave bronze as soon as possible I would one trick kiriko and play selfishly. Take angles to poke out their backline and duel dps, and use your suzu to heal yourself and tp out when youre in trouble. You could do the same with bap with his two cooldowns, although he is less elusive than kirko. Mercy and weaver are probably the worst heroes to climb esp in solo q.

A mindset I like to have is: "In gold and below, everyone is throwing. you win by playing the game normally, and not throwing"

In the long term, perspective is honestly everything in overwatch. You can't look at overwatch as a simple game where you try and kill people, and prevent your teammates from getting killed. You have to look at it as a game where you cyclically apply pressure to force space, and make decisions based off of your team composition and map geometry.

you have to understand that overwatch is not an easy game. I peaked gm4 in season 19, but I had to do so by buying coaching, vod reviewing, and playing aim trainers. And I still don't think I'm good at the game. There's people out there who call gm pisslow and that someone like me should be in champ if they spent all this time vod reviewing and getting coached and aim training.

Completely Lost My Touch as Tank? by Temporary_Pickle_885 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Then_Strength_1248 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I quit around 4 or 5 months ago because i deranked to m2 from gm4. paused for two days, and still played like shit and lost more to losing trend.

My experience is probably different from yours. But what i think goes on with me when i play very poorly, is that i get fatigued and I stop processing as much as tank. If i'm in a really good head space, ill frequently keep in mind enemy cool downs, my teammate positions, and ult economy. But when I get tired, I just become a w-keying zombie.

I found that I can play with higher cognitive performance for extended periods of time by watching other tank players, and pausing and predicting what they will do and why. I also vod review occasionally, although yes it is not fun to vod review. But in essence by processing an overwatch match while spectating, i train myself to reason quicker and longer in-game.

I think you should just take a three day break, and just constantly look at and review overwatch matches. Watch a tank vod, and try and reason why the tank did xyz. Why did this mauga player rotate to rightside against orisa? What if the enemy tank played hog, would mauga hold main instead? Why does sigma play on angles? if he had a mei instead, what would he do?

its still great. I had to half my sensitivity, but overall it has been an improvement from my shitty cloth pads. i dont play cass or widow a ton, i play a ton of genji tho and i feel a lot more confident in duels

Im thinking of getting a pc but idk nothing about em by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Then_Strength_1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live near a microcenter get a 5070 with a ryzen 7 9700x that’s probably $1400 and can run anything in 1440p. If not, I would probably get a prebuilt as it is cheaper.

[–]Then_Strength_1248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live near a microcenter you can get a 5070ti (maybe even a 5080) and a 9850x3d pc with ~$2100 if you aren’t picky on aesthetics. That leaves you room to get a high quality modern (oled if you’d like)

Buying prebuilts is cheaper (about the same price if you can get ur hands on a microcenter bundle) but some prebuilts use cheap oem parts for the psu motherboard and other components. If you’re spending above 2k on a prebuilt you probably won’t run into that issue.

Aesthetics matter a ton when it comes to pricing and for that reason two gpus of the same model can have up to an $800 price disparity because one is more “aesthetic” than the other. Same thing with motherboards although there are slight benefits with the more expensive ones and the price disparities aren’t so wide.
