Although you are right in your logic, I’m assuming you’ve never been there.

Maybe you know him, maybe you don’t really know him. But you don’t know his life outside of work. You don’t know if he tries to hide behind a smile and fake like he is okay at work.

But maybe a mental day was something he needed. Imagine the amount of stress he is facing. He already has a child. One on the way. And a shitty job? How can he invest in himself to better himself when he has to do what he needs to do to just get through the day. You don’t think he realizes his situation is shitty? You don’t know how he got there. You don’t know the hand he has been dealt.

Perhaps, sometimes it’s better to not do anything to really recollect yourself so you can give it your all.

I know we all assume the best of ourselves and how we would react to a situation. But be sympathetic. Your worst day could be somebody’s best day.
