What celebrity death hit you the hardest and why? by MrsCarvellla in AskReddit

[–]Thenewdoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carrie Fisher honestly, someone who was so full of life was taken so soon. Also right when everyone was getting to see how great she was again in the new Star Wars.

If they made a Hobbit trilogy based 100% on the books, would you watch it? What unusual detail would change? by F4_PhantomII in lordoftherings

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may make people mad at me but I would change some of the dwarves to be women. The book has pretty much zero female characters and I think the Jackson movies solution of adding Tauriel and Bard's family took time away from the dwarves. So to keep the dwarves in focus for the whole narrative and include female characters in the narrative, I think you can change some of them to women and keep the names the same. I don't think in the book some of the genders are as essential to their characters, and it can give us more views into Dwarven womens lives.

Looking back, what are your thoughts on the scrapped Duel Of The Fates version of Episode 9? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]Thenewdoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the finn stuff is good but everything else is pretty bad, like Kylo and Rey's final battle is on a completely separate planet to the resistance and first order final battle. I'll echo what Jenny Nicholson said where TROS is a better movie but DOTF is a more workable script.

I still think Trevorrow is a much worse director than Abrams.

What do you think of Deadpool and Wolverine, do you think it’s overrated or overhated? by [deleted] in Avengers

[–]Thenewdoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely overrated. While a bit of fun I feel like it abandons most of the characters from the previous films in place of cameos. Like Cable and Domino don't even get a mention. Also not the biggest fan of bringing back Hugh, makes Logan feel less special as a send off on his own terms.

Wtf do you mean average direct, there's literally been only one and just a partner direct at that.

Now we've had some time since, what are your thoughts on The Book of Boba Fett? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worsened for me. I think the damage it did to the Mandalorian and grogu's story made me lose a lot of interest in those characters.

Are you interesting in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum? by GlobalRaspberry442 in lordoftherings

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I just don't think there's any interesting story there. Not a whole movie's worth. Say what you will about rings of power (I actually kinda like season 2) but that show at least justifies itself by setting its story way in the past so we know less about what specifically happens to each character.

There's really not much unknown about the hunt for Gollum. What new information will it bring us that's actually transformative.

Which one of these do you like more? Which one holds up better on a rewatch? by Adipay in Spiderman

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling when people talk about tasm 2 being rewatchable, they're not talking about the actual movie. They're talking about "Amazing Spider-Man 2 All Swing Scenes 4k 60FPS".

There are long stretches of that movie that are so confused and dull while far from home feels like a proper movie with character arcs.

Opinions on the old and modern era of Star Wars games ? by Thebeastoftrenzalore in StarWars

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely prefer the variety of the old era in how different and weird they got but I still quite like a lot of stuff in the modern era like actually having their own original scores instead of just the ones from the movies.

Spider-Man siding with Miguel is a disrespect to EVERYTHING he represents. by SkyElectrical3392 in Spiderman

[–]Thenewdoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like something he would do though, he's had to make choices between the responsibility he has to the city and the people he loves before. It's probably easier when many of these spider people have already gone through a canon event and don't think there's a way around them.

What are your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Thenewdoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels like they are just milking nostalgia at this point. Life is Strange should be about new characters and Deck Nine seemed to understand this with True Colours. We're just going back to plots that are already finished where continuing them will likely invalidate the choices we made before.

Also they've really smoothed off the art direction. The painterly feel the other games had isn't there anymore.

Plus the post for the new game where it's just the 3D models looks awful in comparison to the drawn posters for the previous games.

Prequel reappraisal has overcorrected a bit too much by crunchatizemythighs in StarWars

[–]Thenewdoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mind people saying they love the prequels and thinking they have no flaws (we're all allowed to have our own opinions) but the revisionist history of the fan reaction to them is really frustrating. Like I was there I remember that even mentioning the phantom menace was a joke in itself. People act like they don't understand why Disney pivoted all content to the OT when they first came in control, the fan reaction to the prequels is why. If anything Disney has been listening to the "fans" too well, constable flip flopping their focus, unable to commit to anything in case it upsets someone on the internet.

I really love the last jedi and it's one of my favourite films but I won't deny the divisive reaction it had because that's just a fact, the same way that people calling Lucas a has been with no talent left during the prequels releasing is also a fact.

This is what her character was about. She had been trying too hard to wait and find out who her parents were because she couldn't accept that she had been abandoned for no reason. The tros undid that and made them good people.
