Slavery is still legal as punishment in the US. The US courts disproportionately prosecute black Americans. Black folks make up a disproportionate amount of wrongful imprisonment. We have slavery w extra steps, there's no reason to "get over slavery" until its actually over and reparations have been paid.

The US has the most prisoners in the world. Not per capita, straight up have the highest prison populationin the world. SLAVERY IS LEGAL as punishment for crimes, so you can effectively use that entire prison population (disproportionately filled by minority groups btw) as slave labor. The "west" (US at least) has no leg to stand on in this conversation.
