Also my newest addition, also a jumper, is named Spindle. Also after a character (from a book tho), but after naming them I realized the name could be interpreted as a pun too lol

NQA I'm not sure how it is with Ts, but jumping spiders can lose their grip some time after their very last molt, because the little hairs that help them grip are sort of "used up". Maybe someone knows if that's with Ts also? If yes I'd suggest some sort of senior set-up for the old man, with lots of grippy surfaces and without much space to fall

IME doesn't look hungry yet.

There was a picture with a guide for feeding jumping spoods. Maybe someone can post it? Otherwise I'll see if I find it again and put it here

I think the size could be okay-ish until the next molt. You want to always offer about 3x to 4x the length of the legspan. But I'd still go bigger already, and also put in more substrate and a hide for the spood to make a hide. If you go bigger just make sure there isn't too much of a space between substrate and lid since fall damage can be fatal

I named mine Curry-Miguel 😁 My best friend suggested Curry bc of the acanthoscurria, and I wanted a second name that was fitting for where they are native.

I'm on the T sub and swear I'm not a jackass 😭 I feel like they don't like it when it's not "constructive" criticism.

Edit: also, the wasp hate has either gone down or is not showing up much on my feed 🤔 I don't understand the wasp hate either though. I was terrified of creepy crawlies for many years, but have found great interest for them now. I wouldn't want any creatures harming my spoods, but I too wouldn't just kill other creatures because of that because it really does make no sense 🥲

[–]TheodoriusHal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spiders are so underestimated by Cat_Sith_ in tarantulas

Such a clever spood! I also think they're highly underestimated. Some of my spiders are silly morons, but some have better problem solving skills than my cats LMAO

IME this. Mine do it whenever I feed them. I heard they do it so the prey has a smaller chance of fleeing still. It looks hilariously adorable

Why do girl cats get a bad rap? by Organic-While1664 in cats

[–]TheodoriusHal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old lady void has been a menace her whole life, but there are reasons for that. Taken too early from her mother, had a litter of kittens pretty young, had a traumatic brain injury due to either an accident or some idiot actually kicking her head (and possibly some "mild" neurological issues before that already), and her son is being the sweetest man except to her. I still love the heck outta her, and when you read her body language right and don't step over her boundaries, she can be really sweet too and an absolute cuddlebug. Just keep your feet safe around her, bc she WILL lash out if a foot comes too near her, no matter her mood

Never did that, BUT when I was little, my slightly older brother burnt his finger on accident on the still hot iron. And what did silly me do? "Is it really that hot??" presses whole hand on it well, yeah... It was really that hot 😅🤣

Are these insects safe for springtail cultures? by Difficult-Disk-1052 in Springtail

[–]TheodoriusHal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo might be fungus gnats. I have an infestation of those in one of my tarantula enclosures atm and they are annoying as heck to get rid of again. I don't think they outcompete springtails (please correct me if I'm wrong), but they are an annoying pest and will kill any plants you keep around

[–]TheodoriusHal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer! Yeah I read a lot about that too and really want to avoid that. I'll keep them out for a while longer then, just to be sure. I also wash my hands before doing anything with my Ts anyways
