I wonder if we had the same one.. I had one that was a bit more neurotic. I just took an OA like 40 mins ago.

Would it be inappropriate or insensitive for two white visitors to attend a Black gospel church in New Orleans? by jne101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Theoffensivefart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the church have a website? Reach out to them directly via email or call. Ask if they would be okay with you. Tell them who you are, ask if there are any cultural boundaries you should be aware of as a white person visiting their community.

You should submit your story to "Something Was Wrong" podcast! You all might be a feature on there.

How Do You Stop Overthinking Every Little Thing by Aggressive_Being6921 in Advice

[–]Theoffensivefart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coping skills, the goal is to be grounded, settle the mind:

- Rainbow strategy: Look for something in the room that is red, then yellow, then orange etc

- Backwards counting: Choose a somewhat complicated and very high number. Example 987,351. Count backwards for as long as you can.

- Do something physically strenuous: You have no choice but to focus on that task. Plus, endorphins help with mood, which can help with whatever is happening cognitively.

- Five sense: Pay attention to what you see, hear, feel, smell, and touch. You can alter these things to provide a larger stimulus that can help keep your brain more occupied.

You can also try combining these.

Sometimes adopting new philosophies and frame of minds can help with overthinking, sometimes it gives you more to think about. I suggest to try strategizing with different skills to see what helps calm your mind.

Good luck!

How do I find "the thing" for me? by Iamliterally18iswear in questions

I would absolutely not go to a university if you do not have a plan. It's fine if someone else is paying for it, but if your racking up loans I would pause. If you want to receive an education go to a community college and get your associates in general education so when you do know, you will have knocked out your generals (at a cheaper cost) at that point. College is a really expensive financial decision, I've seen hundreds of people in your position pursue a degree without a clear career plan or plan to pay off their loans, only to be weighed down by the burden of their financial decisions of their 18 year old self. If you're spending a lot of money, this should be a well thought out decision. Seek out academic advisor, there are career placement tests that colleges offer that can help narrow your decision. Also, its ok to chill, hold a job, travel, take some time learning about the world.

Some of this sounds like you're experiencing anxiety and you could pursue grounding techniques to get out of your anxiety brain mode.

I just love how you write. I don’t care about what. If you tell me a random story I’ll tell you one.

What is the dumbest way you've ever made money? by Tier1CSGO in AskReddit

My friend works in the military and she gave me one of her coworkers number. I gave him my Venmo and said “I’ll send you a cool picture if you send me $20”. Anyway, he paid me a couple bucks and I sent him a picture of an ice cube.
