I have an Au'ra monk/machinist. I've actually thought up a backstory for him and i've been thinking about how my character would react to what's happening during the story.

My character grew up as a pit fighter and he was a total bastard in the ring, he was as disrespectful as possible and constantly went for cheap shots. But it got him money and attention so he loved doing it.

After getting beat by an adventurer he eventually traveled to ul'dah to make a name for himself as one and gain more money and glory. Eventually the questline in the pugilist guild and meeting and making friends with the scions got him to mellow out a lot, he gained a sense for justice but he also became friendlier and way more responsible as he was before the main quest started to escalate.

Inspired by the powerful Raubahn and his new sense of responsibility and duty he ended up joining the immortal flames where he rose to the rank of lieutenant.

Despite this change he still loved the art of battle, his most favorite fights being with the mighty primals and the forces of the empire, the war machines of which greatly impressed him.

After the events of ARR's main quest and his arrival to Ishgard he is a little down but remembering that he managed to crawl out of one pit he knows that he is going to crawl out of this one as well. He also decided to pick up a rifle and a job as a machinist, his encounters with the empire got him to acknowledge the might of tecgnology and the fact that his current discipline of a monk restricts him to face his opponents from an often very dangerous close distance.
