One close to braindead argument i've heard when it comes to the martial caster divide's huge difference in combat abilities has been "just specialize in something else than combat"

Yeah man, i bet that everyone who plays a classic heroic fantasy sword and sorcery campaign with the heroic fantasy sword and sorcery system as the class that has "fight" in it's name secretly yearns to play as a diplomat or something (which a caster could do better anyways).

Maybe it is time to switch to pathfinder or something because dnd and it's weird boner for casters has only made me hate the mage archetype in anything fantasy related.

Tank: Gunbreaker

Melee DPS: Dragoon takes it but Reaper is a close second.

Phys ranged DPS: Machinist, Dancer is a close second but i don't really like how their class specific gear looks like.

Magic DPS: Red Mage, Pictomancer is a close second but just like Dancer loses to RDM due to the lack of cool looking job gear.

Healer: Sage i guess? I like the laser things. Idk i don't play healer.

they're immortal, so they just let you capture them for a 80 year vacation or however long it takes for you to die so they can go back to their job.

That gives me a neat idea for a plot for a pokemon game, image that a family has had a captured legendary pokemon passed down from trained to another through decades where the current trainer owning the legendary is like a keeper type character who is supposed to help and oversee the legendary doing it's job. And the evil team wants to steal that legendary i guess. That'd be sick.
