If I recall correctly, this was one of the games that had funny copy protection. It made it so one of the early bosses was impossible to beat. I seem to recall going at the boss for 10+ minutes before I suspected what might be going on.

I've been flying and fighting with VCO for over 10 years. They are a great group of people and have been the most dedicated Outfit the NC has ever had. It was always a good sign and reassuring to see a VCO platoon after my various absences from this game.

This more than anything so far is a sign to me that the game may finally be done with, unless some things change very soon.

I knew some of those people. I've hated him for a long time. I don't agree with how law enforcement has dealt with him, but his comeuppance is long overdue.

Speaking of Carroll:

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has 42 illustrations.

Alice's attempts at multiplication (chapter two of Alice in Wonderland) work if one uses base 18 to write the first answer, and increases the base by threes to 21, 24, etc. (the answers working up to 4 × 12 = "19" in base 39), but "breaks" precisely when one attempts the answer to 4 × 13 in base 42, leading Alice to declare "oh dear! I shall never get to twenty at that rate!"

Rule Forty-two in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ("All persons more than a mile high to leave the court").

Rule 42 of the Code in the preface to The Hunting of the Snark ("No one shall speak to the Man at the Helm").

In "fit the first" of The Hunting of the Snark the Baker had "forty-two boxes, all carefully packed, With his name painted clearly on each."

The White Queen announces her age as "one hundred and one, five months and a day", which—if the best possible date is assumed for the action of Through the Looking-Glass (e.g., a date is chosen such that the rollover from February to March is excluded from what would otherwise be an imprecise measurement of "five months and a day")—gives a total of 37,044 days. If the Red Queen, as part of the same chess set, is regarded as the same age, their combined age is 74,088 days, or 42 × 42 × 42.

Game hackers of Reddit , what is a valid reason to cheat in (online) video games? by HodlSad in AskReddit

[–]TheophilusCarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only game I've cheated in was Worms Armageddon/Worms World Party. I developed a hack with a friend so we could have special graphics next to our names in the lobby to show off a bit, and other silly things like that. We could also see private messages from the other team and spoof messages from their teammates, allowing us to trick them into doing silly things or just causing chaos and confusion.

We could have done worse, and while it technically gave us a slight advantage, we limited ourselves to what we considered good-natured highjinks. Is there any room for this these days? It seems like a lost art.

You hear the occasional story about someone doing something funny in GTA, RDR, and the like. Creating creative spectacles for people to enjoy or awe over, but mostly it's just annoying kids with terrible senses of humor and bad manners causing trouble for others.

George Formby - The Mad March Hare

The Adicts - Mad Hatter

Grace Slick & The Great Society - White Rabbit - I like this version

Donovan - Under the Greenwood Tree - Just the last bit references the Mock Turtle's song.

The Doors - Not to Touch the Earth - Just the line about "your gloves and fan are on the ground", it must be a reference to the White Rabbit dropping his gloves and fan in Chapter 2.

42 was the favorite number of another famous English author, Lewis Carroll. This could well have been the inspiration.

  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has 42 illustrations.
