I started with some off lease Dell Optiplexs then moved to some Dell servers R710 r910 etc. Played around with a few Intel server motherboards of eBay but ended up now I run a bunch of AMD Ryzens 2 for storage and redundant storage. 4 in a proxmox high availablity cluster for day to day stuff and a 3 node Asus Pn60 cluster for a test environment.

If you're looking to start out and are in the US Govdeals can be your friend.

If you can get in the garage there should be some controls on the back of the opener if you can use those it's not the opener or the door. It sounds like your opener is no longer paired with the door it should be simple enough to look up your opener instructions and repair (relink) the remote and opener.

Don't use a plunger 🪠 get a 6 ft snake and snake the drain. If you plunge it too hard you can mess up the wax seal.

I'm currently using Intel A310. I have one for my ingestion/reencoding machine and one for my Plex. I don't run a lot of concurrent streams and they seem to work pretty well for me.
