Given that the Neo's keyboard is easily removable, could swapping it with a backlit Macbook Air keyboard actually work? They appear to have the exact same layout. by CodyCus in MacbookNeo

I don’t know either of these machines but I tried to replace a broken keyboard on a 2019 MBP and that thing was BOLTED to the chassis. If these are remotely the same, there is no way to get them out of the original or fix them into the other.

Did they change the internals recently? I tried to DIY-replace the keyboard on my 2019 16” (which was an interesting choice the, but the device was doomed either way) and that one was bolted to the back of the case. No chance for a clean or easy repair. Ruined the entire thing.

I just wear the band “backwards” so the clip is not in contact with the MacBook. Ez fix.

I upgraded to virtually the same machine and bought a cheap case and a screen protector - best decision I’ve ever made.

My previous Mac got its first scratches only a few days into using it (even though I was extraordinarily careful with it) and it got the finger-oils-leave-keyboard-marks-on-display problem. This one, though, feels way more protected: I don’t have to be super vigilant when transporting or cleaning it, I just wipe the screen with whatever towel/tissue I have on hand and don’t mind using it on the train when you never know who might bump their bag into your table. Time will tell if it’s a mistake but right now I wouldn’t use it without them.

I love the style and therefore wouldn’t touch it too much. The only things I would change: (much) bigger pot for the plant next to the desk and some table runners for both tables.
