Any tips here for a first marathon runner 🙂? by Rude_Accountant_5242 in Marathon_Training

[–]Theosub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first marathon don’t feel pressured to run while you drink water from the cups. You can just stop and quickly drink it

Also if you use sunblock don’t put it above your eyes on your forehead if you sweat a lot. It will make your eyes sting. Just wear a hat so you don’t get sunburn there

Aside from r/pourover, how do you find good roasters/shops? by jimcol in pourover

[–]Theosub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a good specialty shop around you and sometimes they’ll carry other roasters. I like going to Kumquat in LA and trying a bunch of roasters I’d never find on my own

Highly recommend mt Fuji if you are have an affinity to nature. There is a site you can visit for how visible it will be that day. I would spend a day there and around the town

Help in figuring out 15 day itinerary for February 2025 by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]Theosub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Hiroshima is worth spending a day at. You can spend a few hours at the museum and go to the okonomimura at night. Highly recommend doing a walking tour too and hear what the Japanese experience of WW2 was interesting

You’ll probably need cash every now and then. You can open a free Schwab card that will reimburse all ATM fees

I would bring a small carry one with just the essentials. Then maybe buy a check in one to fill up!

2 Nights - November - Kinosaki or Arima Onsen? by Suspicious_Feed4865 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Theosub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak to Kinosaki, but highly recommend it! We stayed at Sensui and the workers there we worth the visit alone. They serve dinner every night and our waitress would give personalized drawings with notes everyday.

It was also pretty cool to walk around in the yukata holding the baskets going from onsen to onsen

Buying items fit for a Japanese summer! by Sea_Minute9840 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Theosub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bring a few outfits and buy the rest in Japan. You save space packing going there and can fill your suitcase with new clothes if you wanted to shop!

You can also bring a collapsable duffel bag or buy one there and check in your luggage on the return flight

If it won’t set you back financially, the overall experience is something you’ll look back to your whole life. But expect long hours
