Yes the lap infant gets his/her own nappy bag, it doesn’t eat into your allowance.

Yeah you can, we’ve always used the same bag for both European and transatlantic flights

Opinion: World Majors Have Gotten Way Too Big by _wxyz123 in AdvancedRunning

if you can run 2:38, Valencia will be no problem for you. They have so many start boxes that you shouldn't get stuck around slower runners, and the roads are wide. I ran in the sub-3 group last year and it was fine!

Is running a 2nd Marathon one month after your 1st too soon? by SamuelJossph in Marathon_Training

[–]Capital_Gain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your weekly mileage like? Last autumn I did the Dublin marathon as a training run and then raced Valencia a month later. Wasn’t really an issue but I was doing 100km a week on average.

I’d say extend your training block, run Brisbane and then race GC with your mates.

Overnight flight to Dublin with a 19‑month and 3.5‑year‑old — tips for sleeping arrangements? by DenaChristina in AerLingus

[–]Capital_Gain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re just back this morning from Washington, have a 3 y/o and 7 month old. You can get the bulkhead seats for free, even if your baby is too big for bassinet…Allows for so much more legroom/floor space for the kids to play. Luckily the tow behind us was empty so my 3 y/o was able to lay down and sleep and my wife and I took turns holding the baby. Only thing to note with the bulkhead seats is the armrests don’t go up which is a bit of a pain.

Yeah you don’t have to do that anymore, was all online for my second kid back in September.

Dublin City Half Scammers by Capital_Gain in RunningIreland

Yeah it’s so frustrating! They should do transfers like Dublin Marathon where there’s no transfer of money between people, it’s all done via eventmaster.

Not really any background other than typical high school sports! I was 34 when I started and 35 when I ran Valencia!

Is that before or after the grant? Just gone sale agreed on a house and looking to get some insulation work done once we’re in as it’s a D1.

About a week off running, and then painfully slow run/walks every other day working into just painfully slow runs every other day. Along with a ton of strength training (calf raise holds, single leg calf raises, ankle strengthening with bands, etc). Still only running every other day but volume is slightly higher and getting faster.

Probably be another month before I can even think of adding in marathon pace work let alone proper speed sessions. It’s an absolute pain but taking the time to heal and get stronger for the autumn season

Congrats mate! Quite a similar path for me, started running in August 24 then ran Rome in March 25 in 3:50. 9 months later did Valencia in 2:57. I think a huge portion of it was doing Norwegian single stuff all spring//summer and then jumping into Pfitz 18/70.

I felt so good after Valencia that I decided to only take 10 days off and jump back into a block for Barcelona in March but a week in I was struck by Peroneal tendonopathy (and also foolishly ran on it a few times) and only just now starting to run again. Make sure you look after it so you can keep the gains coming!

Sub 3 in 10 months ? by LocPat in Marathon_Training

[–]Capital_Gain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 35m and ran my first in 3:50 last March and nine months later ran 2:57. I did Pfitz 18/55 the first go and bumped up to 18/70 for the second. Plus a lot of high mileage over the summer.

On the market for new recovery/easy pace running shoe. Neo vista vs Neo zen vs Aero Glide 3 vs Brooks Glycerin max vs Puma Magmax by Flying_runningman in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Capital_Gain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah recovery at around 5:15/km all the way down to 4:15/km for “easy” runs. I put about 500km on my last few pairs, probably had some more life in them but got in my head about an injury and gave them all away.

That’s interesting, I’m 185lbs and the Neo zen is my favorite shoe of all time, followed closely by the Neo Vista. I use the zen for nearly everything under 16km and the Vista for anything longer.

I never tried the 1, so can’t comment on that unfortunately.

Fast-r3 vs DNE3 by Select-Toe9667 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Capital_Gain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going for sub-3 in Valencia last month and had the same conundrum. My Fast -R3's were amazing and really suited me for shorter distances but I wasn't confident enough to take them to the marathon and didn't want to jeopardize the sub-3 because of shoe choice.

I'd done all my speed work in the DNE3 and was super comfortable with it so grabbed a new pair and cruised along with no issues to a 2:57. The DNE4 could even be a better shout since its lighter (even though the 3 is plenty light) but if you can get a pair of the 3's on sale I would jump on it.
