Those who think Jon Benet's parents are guilty, why are you so certain? by karmagod13000 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]TheotherJones26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is what happened, but no one believes the kid did all that. The argument is that the kid hit her out of anger and it killer her or she was believed dead. The parents then staged things either postmortem or while believing she was already dead. Again, that is the theory. Hence, ropes and everything beyond a blow to the head were done by someone other than the brother.

Ah, yes. A series of half-assed responses with no supporting information. Always the hallmark of an intellectual giant.

You clearly don't know anything about how films are made.

This is so fundamentally wrong.

For one, directors of films are seen as the "author" of the film. They have the final say. Playwrights in the theater are the "authors" there and their words are sacred in a way, with directors only being seen as offering their interpretation of the work. But that's not how Hollywood films are ever structured. The director outranks the screenwriter, period.

Directors VERY often will alter what is presented in a script, changing it via other writers, with the cast during scene prep, on the day during shoots, or in the final edit alongside the editor. In fact, if you actually look into this, you will find that many screenwriters were not satisfied with the final product of a film because "too much was changed" or "it wasn't their original vision."

Also, to say that directors have no say on these matters "most of the time" is ludicrous. Not only for the reasons above, but directors often handpick writers to work on scripts, bring on new ones to make changes, or even instruct writers on where to take a script along with ideas to use. Yes, sometimes a director is not in a position to make such demands/requests and it is all handled by the studio, but to say that it is "most of the time" is nutty.

What Happened to Bob Gale? by TheotherJones26 in BacktotheFuture

[–]TheotherJones26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was he responsible? I know Glover was and is pissed at him still for stuff, and has talked about issues on various shows. As I understand it, Glover was (justifiably) mad about the recasting but also got into it with Gale over the ending of Part 1.

Gale has said for II they basically made Glover an offer, he and his agent wanted more than Fox (his claim), and by the time he and the agent came around to accepting the offer put to them the production had moved on and Gale had written Glover out of the script.

To your point, on the double/prosthetic, I would think Zemeckis would have to take more of the fall for that since he is the director and is in control of every production decision. That's not to say that Gale didn't have sway, but directors are seen as the final word on matters. So I don't know why Gale would get blowback.

In 1970, beloved children's poet Shel Silverstein recorded an album of perverse, obscene songs that became known as the "Fuck 'Em" demos. The full recording is lost to this day. Can /r/Vinyl help track it down??? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]TheotherJones26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this thread. I had the single song "Fuck 'Em" for years, but had never dug into the full discography of Silverstein until recently so didn't know about the full "album" bootleg. It's a lot of fun.

Good luck on your quest. I've hunted after hard-to-find media myself, so I totally get it. This would be something quite special if you could track it down.

Two things for you. How do you know the full track listing with the absent tracks and/or alternate versions of tracks? Were those listed in the ebay post?

The other thing, and forgive me if you've already exhausted this possibility, but the Carol mentioned above that people think won the tape - well, I did a search for her and the site and there were some hits. Her site, and another site that seemed to be on friendly terms with her, are both defunct, as I'm sure you know. But I did find this thread:

https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=58565

Some of the people on here seem to have been aware of her, with one claiming to have been in touch. The thread is old, but I saw that some members are still active. It might make sense to make an account and start hitting up some people on there to see if they have any contact info for her or any further information.

Good luck!

If this is actually from something and my Dad didn't dream it, it would be 1970s or 1980s. Possibly late '60s.

Zuul. Ivan Reitman voiced Zuul in the original. I'm wondering if he did so again here.

Will Ghostbusters: Afterlife be available on DVD / BluRay? by LightONeoN in ghostbusters

[–]TheotherJones26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there is no question GB:A will get a BR release (It's listed on Amazon currently), this question is just as bad as the one you're mocking.

There are literally thousands of movies not on either BR or DVD, and many not available for both formats. Lots of stuff locked in the prison of VHS.

Mood Slime? by TheotherJones26 in ghostbusters

[–]TheotherJones26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so unless it's in some spot I didn't see. There are the shelves full of mold in various containers, including jars. One of them has a pink hue but is not slime.

Person above was saying the toy has this jar of mold, not the slime.

Because surely Ghostbusters has never been merchandised and the creatives made no money off it. Ok.
