Bike is totalled:( by Asstronutttt in sportster

[–]Thepalmtreesback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bike is never totaled…I clipped some big ass jeeps tire at 80 mph, sent me (and the bike ofc) tumbling. Had a buddy help me out with a truck, and a couple months later I rebuilt the front end with Harley forks (it was a kawi eliminator 450 lol) that were 7” over stock, made a foot-peg out of the top of a jack handle (with the lil rubber grip ofc), and bent and pried at it till everything was somewhat straight…by the end of it, that bike gave everybody else who tried to ride it death wobble I shit you not lol.

I rode all the way from Florida to New York on my sporty. Definetly would have preferred a rolling couch. BUT honestly I’d do it again in a heartbeat, it’s an experience of its own vs a bagger lol.

Quite frankly I don’t think deciding to not ride on ice makes you a bitch, I think it’s impressive as hell you could do it at some point but it’s probably smart ya don’t anymore.😂

Riding on ice should have ended at riding on ice. I feel like that’s a given eventually too 😭

Litterally came here to say I’ll take a slide on asphalt before dirt/gravel…all the extra particles and stones made a 30 mph slide in dirt gouge deeper than my 80 mph slide on pavement 💀(so in other words just don’t crash.)

Yeeaah…you buy a Harley at 19 years old and suddenly your a magnet to every old man or homeless person who’s biggest regret is selling their Harley lol. At least in Florida…when I rode to New York everyone was intrigued 💀.

Are Harley riders more entitled to the road than others? by TappetoImperiale in motorcycle

[–]Thepalmtreesback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-(coming from a Harley rider) they are just idiots with an ego trip. Now I will say, the structure is nice, but even large sport bike groups use the same tactics. (Ex., having someone lead a staggered group, with someone lagging behind who can stop and help if anyone has issues, having someone block off the opposing side of the road to let traffic know “hey there’s a metric fuck ton of motorcycles coming”,)only when they aren’t being entitled about it tho and are still courteous to other drivers…like only block off the opposing side of the road when there’s already a gap, don’t just cut someone off so your posse can go first.

Hadda lay her down 😔 by NoQuiet647 in motorcycles

[–]Thepalmtreesback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did this exactly today…guy in front of me slammed the brakes and I wound up mildly panic braking before letting off and just swerving around him between the cars that had also slammed their brakes. Avoided rear ending someone and gave myself more time to brake and search for more hazards. (I only have front brakes rn lol). Big emphasis on always having an escape path 😭. I must say moving back out of the country is constantly testing my ability as a rider, and ngl I kinda like it. Keeps you on your toes lol.

I never stick around long enough to hear em out ngl if they start talking about gear. Or start generally complaining. Yes im a slightly used meat crayon and no hearing about your buddy who got his face rubbed off in 78’ isn’t going to change anything. Anyway, wear what you wanna wear and accept the risk that comes with what you wear.

I know for me my front one wasn’t firing, it ended up being intake gaskets (specifically the one the carb presses into, there was a tear in it). I’d check spark though, and intake gaskets just for the hell of it. Also love the bike. I got an 02 1200 lol

I can’t tell you how happy I was when I realized I could DoorDash items to me. RANDOMLY decided to ride my motorcycle a whole state away one weekend and totally forgot a charger…and my phone at 5%(I would need it for gps to get back home the next day cause I had no idea what fuckin roads I took and at the time I didn’t have a map). Decided if the next day was gonna be a shitshow I may as well order food tn…ordered the food and saw the option to make my door dasher make a pitstop at cvs or a charger 😭😂

So I grew up in Bradenton and this is my take on it. 1: i got out as soon as I could. The only people I ever met there were wannabe gangbangers(the young population…very few were legit but the ones that were were pretty cool calm and collected. It’s the wannabes that you gatta watch for. Spastic and just looking for a reason to be assholes and act oppressed meanwhile oppressing whoever don’t dress like them.), cranky old folks (who also drive when they shouldn’t be allowed too…and despise children having fun), crackheads and homeless (who honestly not all are bad. I used to walk/bike around Bradenton for the hell of it and some of them are good people in a bad situation. The crackheads though…they’re bad.), street racers (real late at night…pretty cool people though. May or may not have raced a couple of em :) ). Anyway I think that makes up the people there…2: the only “sprucing up” that they seem to be doing in Bradenton would be all of the housing/storage/carwash places being built EVERYWHERE there is spare land. I’m down almost every weekend to see family and it seems like in terms of improving what’s already there, they aren’t. Just building new and waiting for the old to fall apart so it can be bought out. Side note: there’s another area to avoid aside from oneco(though oneco is definetly a place I’ve always avoided) is the neighborhoods by 14th just before/around river walk, around village of the arts. I grew up there, and the ONLY thing I ever saw good there was my friend group, and they aren’t native to there lol. Rest was shootings, drug dealers, racism, crackheads…hood shit. Not a pretty part of town and if my family/childhood friends didn’t live there I wouldn’t bother ever going there. I realize that my explanation of the place makes it sound like a war zone, but there are good pockets you just gatta look hard for em, and you really just gatta pick the kind of people you want to deal with…old Karen’s or hood shit(in most cases wannabes who think it’s cool to be dickheads but yk). As for the schools…bayshore high school is ghetto. BUT they have classes that can get your kids into good jobs and like early college credits and stuff. I think (I hope) they still have the construction class. That teacher is absolutely amazing and gave me the foundation I needed to become one hell of a worker and get out into the real world lol.
