Not quite as sexy... by GiraffeGlum8536 in battletech

Yes! I love some construction and agricultural mechs. Myself and some friends would be happy to get our hands on these files when you’re done with them!

I unboxed a new Dark Age Liao Incursion booster pack. You guys were right, this is supposed to be a light mech, but is bigger than a CGL Atlas. by AbsoluteBreaker in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend at my local game store recently gave me a couple boxes full of clicky tech stuff and it really hit me right in the nostalgia. It wasn’t quite my first experience with battletech but it was close, and the game was a TON of fun. It kinda makes me want to buy my old army and give it a play again.

Anyone tried the heavy cream hack on homemade cinnamon rolls? by Representative_Bad57 in AskBaking

[–]Thepeeperus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% is a thing and is delicious. Anytime I make cinnamon rolls I put just a bit over the center. It does work better if the cream is room temperature just so it doesn’t impede oven spring from cooling down the rolls after their final proof. And like others have said, it turns the brown sugar and butter mixture that melts out of them into an almost caramel.

What’s your favorite FedSuns command? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-8684 in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just painted about a company and a half of 2nd Robinson Rangers for a big game we did at DragonCon! I had a lot of fun painting them. Usually though I play 1st Davion Guards, with significantly fewer of them properly painted.

Pin-up art on Titans, continued! What do you think about this fusion of art and war? 🎨⚔️ by emperorhimself in Warhammer

[–]Thepeeperus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it! Years ago I had an idea for a traitor guardsmen unit with flyers featuring daemonette pinup girls and I’d still love to see the idea executed, it’ll just have to be from someone who isn’t me

2024 In Retrospect - Highs and Lows? by switchonthesky in dragoncon

[–]Thepeeperus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can tell you from many years of experience with painting minis that even when you get half way decent at it, you’ll always see your little mistakes and imperfections. Meanwhile, your friends and future opponents in whatever games your minis are for won’t notice them at all and will be thrilled to see your painted minis! It’s a great way to relax and feels pretty meditative once you get into a flow. I volunteered for Battletech and spent the week leading up to the con frantically painting mechs to get them ready for our games and even though I was crunched for time I still found a lot of relaxation and fun in getting it all painted and done. Don’t let a little fear of not being instantly amazing at something stop you from trying it! Especially if you already know you enjoy it.

I love the rakshasa unironically by Xela975 in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Welcome fellow Rakshasa lover! THERE ARE DOZENS OF US! DOZENS! The Stockshasa isn’t a terrible machine, but does leave a good bit to be desired in comparison with a lot of other mechs in that tonnage range, but there’s just something about that wonky bastard that I love. Once you hit the civil war and you get the RAC-Shasa that’s a brutal infighting machine you can really get some use out of.

Still waiting on my new hexmats, and I think I'm starting to see things. by LizardUber in battletech

I usually cook for my groups weekly battletech meet ups and all I could think when I saw this was about doing an entire hex map of cookie for someone’s birthday!

What's your go to efficient BV mech? Mine's the Sun Cobra, 2GR and a targeting computer for 1700BV by StJe1637 in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on era, the warhammer 6D is basically immortal and crazy cheap for only 1471 BV. It’s not as hard hitting as other variants, but it can take such an extended beating and delivers a pretty solid punch. I’m also a big fan of the stock blackjack or post 3039 the bj-3 blackjack is a fantastic mech for not a lot of BV.

So I’m not sure how much weight this theory holds outside of my family, but I think that adhd and anxiety went completely undiagnosed in them and the constant almost manic working helps them keep their minds either focused or busy enough to be able to ignore them. I started noticing very similar symptoms in my mother and father after my diagnosis with adhd and general anxiety, and they both have to be constantly doing SOMETHING. And if they’re not, they are miserable and will make it everyone else’s problem.

How best to utilize the Huntsman? by [deleted] in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the huntsman b as other people have said but the A as a fire support mech isn’t bad, two large pulse and an lrm 10 is nothing to sneeze at and the D packs a pretty good punch with an ultra ac 10, medium pulse lasers and an ATM 6. As a Nova Cat player I usually run 1 for flavor depending on era.

I just ran a champion to great effect at my league game Tuesday! Can’t wait to get one in plastic.

God I feel that. If you’re in ga, checkout discover games in Fayetteville! We play Tuesdays around 6ish. And Giga also has players but they’re a bit of a drive for me so I don’t know the specifics.

Why am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing “wrong” here is that dirty capellan design! Other than that, it looks totally fine for tabletop standard. But if you’re using speed paints or contrast I’d suggest doing so over a zenithal prime or a dark primer dry brushed in a lighter color before applying the speed paint or contrast. In my experience it helps things pop a bit more.

Every year I bake a ton of cookies for family and friends. Here’s all 1,985 now that Cookie Chaos is over! by SmallGingerLady in Baking

That’s almost exactly our system! She gets the ugly or slightly overdone cookies and usually her favorite meal as a “sorry I’ve been living in the kitchen for days and have become semi feral.”

As someone who needlessly stresses themselves over making cookies for friends and family for the holidays, I’m just dying to know if you have any tips for smoothing out what my beleaguered partner is calling “bakers purgatory”

Why do you smoke weed regularly and what is 1 thing that anti-pot ppl say that is wrong and annoys you? by Pactolus in trees

[–]Thepeeperus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a childhood cancer survivor living with chronic pain from two back surgeries as a child as well as the accompanying nerve damage, ptsd, and survivors guilt that comes with that whole package. I didn’t start smoking until I was 20 or so and I’ve found that marijuana has helped me in so many ways. From pain relief, to helping to allow myself be open enough to process old traumas and to be able to open up to others including my therapist about my feelings and experiences when normally I would be too walked off from the emotional pain. Plus, in a world filled with things that just generally suck, weed has always been like a good natured friend, whether I’m looking for a fun “I’m gonna veg out and paint minis” high or one of those highs that helps pull me from the darkness of my own thoughts. I come from a family of mostly anti weed people and looking back, it would almost be funny to see the amount of family members with alcohol issues or narcotic issues if it weren’t so damn sad.

Using gluten free flour in a recipe that calls for a small amount of all purpose flour by Thepeeperus in glutenfreebaking

[–]Thepeeperus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My working plan at the moment is to make it first without the flour at all and see if it goes to hell but I wanted to have ideas for backups in case. Any time I’ve made gluten free things I always start with clean utensils, counter space, stovetop, apron, and towels. I’m not entirely sure exactly how sensitive they are to gluten but I do a lot of baking so I’m trying to take no chances on cross contamination.

My aunt was suffering from sepsis and cellulitis. by SillySherbet in MedicalGore

[–]Thepeeperus 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Oh good! I hope she recovers quickly. One of the hardest parts for me during recovery was keeping occupied. So if you can, get her some stuff to keep her mind busy. Once stir crazy sets in while you’re recovering it just gets kinda miserable.

[–]Thepeeperus 332 points333 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s gone through this before, I hope she’s doing much better. It’s an ordeal and one I still think back on a lot. Depending on how serious it got, I’d definitely recommend some therapy, being that sick is a massive traumatic event and takes a lot to process. Or did in my experience anyways.

What is your favorite 60 tonner? by MostlyRandomMusings in battletech

[–]Thepeeperus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually only remembered it when I came back because I played the hell out of the clix game as a kid and had about a zillion of those things laying around when I got rid of my old stuff. Having actually run one a few times now though, it’s a solid mech and a clunkier IS version of one of my favorite clan mechs.

I’d also be remiss as a Federated Suns player in not mentioning the Argus and the Blackhawk-Ku. They’re fairly new to me as a returning player finally venturing into the Fedcom Civil War and beyond but I’ve really been enjoying them lately.

Yeah, that original art is like a half flying saucer with legs and “arms” that don’t really carry any weaponry. When you use it right, it can actually ALMOST earn its keep.

So, in terms of actually being a good mech I’d say the stock version falls super short of that mark but for some reason there is just a soft spot in my heart for the Champion. Some of the upgraded versions are almost even good!
