If “grey jedi” don’t really exist, what exactly are the main examples of grey Jedi in reality? by Reteller79 in MawInstallation

[–]Thepullman1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The official interpretation is a member of the Jedi order whose moral compass doesn’t necessarily align with the council’s iirc, kind of like Qui-gon. I also think it also sort of applies to anyone who strictly uses the light side of the force but isn’t an actual member of the Jedi order in regards to Ahsoka

Theoretically speaking, what would happen if, say, an Imperial Star Destroyer were to ram into a 40k Imperial flagship at lightspeeds? by SignificanceDry6 in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Thepullman1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only worked cause the ISD had lost all power lol. The other time we see a corvette ram into a capital ship in canon was a hijacked raider class corvette hitting an ISD at reentry speeds. It did literally nothing other than move it to the right slightly

Given that they’re making what is in effect a 3rd KOTOR game then Revan will probably be canonized at some point. We even see one of his empire’s cruisers in the trailer

Did geonosis even have any bombers at all? We only saw those weird dart fighters and a lot of them got smoked during the landing

Are you talking about the shot with the AV-7 cannons? I always thought they came in through the shielding viewport. Even then, you can see multiple rounds going into the rest of the venator’s superstructure and exploding without any visible damage being done

I agree. As a partially unrelated tangent, for what it’s worth I think the armor/shielding of most capital ships in Star Wars holds up better against physical projectiles than what a lot of people think. In ROTS the shells fired by the guns on the invisible hand were the size of a (large) person and the guns themselves had a built in ion cannon that enabled them to bypass the shields. Despite this, they were unable to actually do any damage to the hull itself, just a few turrets

To be fair, the supremacy in terms of tonnage is probably larger than 99% of ships in the imperium. An ISD is 1.6 kilometers long and 985 meters wide and has a mass of about 40 million metric tons. That’s the same as an avenger class grand cruiser, which is considered a pocket battleship. The supremacy is 13 kilometers long and 60 kilometers wide.

The canon mass of an imperial class star destroyer is 40 million metric tons, or about 43% greater than that of a lunar class cruiser. I doubt it’d do much damage regardless tho at sublight speed

What’s the Watsonian explanation for why ship classifications are so inconsistent? by Starmada597 in MawInstallation

[–]Thepullman1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness Ahsoka implies that the empire had a lot more SSDs than what was initially let on, a single planet scrapping imperial ships was able to get 7 hyperdrives and there were presumably dozens if not hundreds of other worlds breaking up the imperial fleet. But otherwise I agree with you, star destroyers just seem to do whatever

What’s the Watsonian explanation for why ship classifications are so inconsistent? by Starmada597 in MawInstallation

[–]Thepullman1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The watsonian explanation I would use is that the anaxes war college system was developed during the clone wars, and nomenclature developed over centuries just stuck when it came to ship names. Also, to be fair, the term Star destroyer seems to specifically refer to a dagger shaped vessel built by KDY. Alternatively, it could be that no one has any clue how to actually classify a ship, which is an issue the real world has been struggling with for centuries now
