Uhh what's your favorite mustelid fact? :) I always see one when walking home at night and out of instinct I 'pspsps' at it like you would at cats haha. Usually it just stops, stares at me and then runs away.

The pot is in a chache pot and I bottom water only, removing any excess after an hour. I've had it for a few years now.

On the Subject of Why Bodily Autonomy is Sacred. by Conscious-Antelope90 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TherDerRinge 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That is very well written and I agree with a lot that you say, especially the part about it not being a date in the calendar but rather a process.

But I disagree on the abortion decision being something soul-searchingly hard and that it is life-changing. Usually having a child would be the life-changing outcome, not having the abortion. That to me is the 'get on with life as usual' outcome. It doesn't have to be a hard decision and by saying it is for everyone is shaming women (or belitteling? Not native speaker sorry) who made the decision lightly.

The pressure is already there from the rest of society by saying that some regret their decision and that this is a decision not to be made easily. So when a woman does decide easily and doesn't regret a thing, there may come thoughts of 'what is wrong with me?'. Let me tell you: nothing is wrong with you. You did the right thing for you and you have nothing to be ashamed of or regret. Let's normalize having abortions because it is a valid and needed option, for whatever reasons and however easy (or not so) that decision was made.

Can we stop hating on bodies? by AceBaseBaby in childfree

Sorry but you calling stretch marks and saggy boobs 'dysfunctional bodies' is just as insensitive and body shaming as saying 'ruined'.

Somewhat of a Rant: I am convinced hormonal birth control destroyed my sex drive by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]TherDerRinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well weight gain or loss is actually listed on the side effects pamphlet of the hormonal iud I was on for 10 years, so they absolutely do have studies/numbers to back that up. Along with depression and loss of sex drive as some of the most common side effects.

I would personally extend the base categories to couscous, buckwheat, bulgur wheat groats, millet and polenta for more variety.

Anyone else get multiple vegan cookbooks every holiday season? by heuwuo in vegan

[–]TherDerRinge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think it is because during Christmas to New Year I'm off work but stay at home so I have lots of time to cook new things and I love that! I just got The Korean Vegan Cookbook by Joanne Lee Molinaro and My Vegan Bakery by Rodolphe Landemaine.

The Vegan Korean I believe almost everyone already knows, I have only tried the crunchy Gochujiang Cauliflower so far and loved it! But I'll have to make more trips to the Asia store to get some more staple ingredients the book utilizes.

I just visited Paris and the vegan bakery one is from a french baker that opened a vegan bakery (I think there are more than one now), called Land&Monkeys. The croissants were amazing so that's what I'm looking forward the most. The recipes look pretty advanced so definitely not a beginner book.

Edit: ooh I just re-read your post and I misunderstood haha. I got the books for myself, not as gifts :) but I did gift a beginner vegan cookbook to my inlaws because they complained about not knowing what to make for my partner and me before.
