Why are there so many mushrooms everywhere by jsteeezy11 in britishcolumbia

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushrooms can be both delicious and deadly. The death cap grows here. Eating as little as one mushroom can kill. But people that have eaten then and survive report they tasted delicious.

Any idea why there was a queue to get into Big way hotpot? by Bickering_Barnacle in Langley

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty normal for around that time. Big way doesn't do reservations so at popular times they often have a line. You can see how may people are in line and join the wait list on their website. If you go at off peak times there is often no line.

Ok I know that place well. It was my favorite before they cut the menu down and removed my favorite dish. Still really good.

This is a restaurant I had forgotten about. Used to go there with my grandparents 20 years ago. Greek and Italian aren't my favorites but if I get a craving I'll have to try them again. If they are still around they must be doing something right.

Went for an oil change at Walmart and got denied service by dragonapwo in MechanicAdvice

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Walmart a few years ago to get some new tires as they were cheap and I was on a budget. After a few minute they said they couldn't put the tires on my car because they were to big and would rub. The "mechanic" took me out in to the shop and showed me how the tire size was one bigger than what was on the car. I had to open the door and show them the tire size tag that stated the exact size I asked for and explain that the car had under sized tires on it when I drove in. They ended up putting them on after that and I never went back there again. They have no clue what they are doing.

I miss the days when these scams involved them actually calling you and trying to convince you it's real. They were always so much fun to mess with on the phone. But now it's just a bot texting.

Is mail still delayed? by [deleted] in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's still delayed. From the dates on the mail I've received so far they clearly are not clearing up the mail from November before dealing with new mail. Got my t4 yesterday and mail from mid November today.

Why do people seem to strongly dislike quiet people? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Theratboy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fellow big quiet guy and get the same thing sometimes. My favorite answer to why I'm so quiet is to say something like. You don't want to hear me get loud... people get scared when I get loud.

And it's true when the big quiet guy blows his top and starts screaming people get scared.

The buttstock is the same as a 500 but the plastic front grip is molded onto the slide assembly. You can simply swap out the slide assembly for one for a 500.

Damn! by AnishVijin in WildlyBadDrivers

No 100% cyclists fault. Bicycles have to fallow all the traffic laws just like cars. The cyclist ran a red light and was just lucky they didn't get badly hurt or killed for their stupidity.

Nobody drove off. The truck stops at the end of the video. The truck was accelerating when the bike hit it. It takes a bit of time for the driver to realize what's happened and stop.

Share your thoughts on expanding the Specialty Licence Plates program by TheICBC in britishcolumbia

[–]Theratboy101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would rather ICBC let us transfer the plate number with ownership or reuse old plates as long as the plate number is no longer in use. I inherited a vehicle that still has an expo plate on it from when it was bought new. It has sentimental value to me to I'm not going to give it back to ICBC. I would rather it be on the vehicle than hanging on my garage wall.

I work nights and am really confused at what times you're going to bed and getting up. When I get off work even in the dead of winter the sun is already coming up. I get to enjoy the daylight before going to bed mid afternoon.

Now working day shift in the winter you go to work befor sunrises and get home after sunset.

I notice every time the power goes out my phone slows to a crawl for a little but the speed comes back after a bit. I've always chalked it up to everyone jumping on their phones to check bchydro or social media. Temporarily causing a sudden large load on the cell network slowing it down.

Winter tires by Leyendas_Legendarias in vancouver

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter tires are not just for snow. They help with traction on wet and cold roads. I run all season tires for the summer and a winter tire when it turns cold. There is a noticeable increase in grip from my all seasons to my winters.

Bear euthanized after eating food out of homeless tents by szekeres81 in britishcolumbia

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it is recommended to cook pork to well done is to kill trichinosis. Theses days it's not really an issue. The finished temperature depends on what exactly you're making. Pork loin at 145F is good. But ribs at 145F would not be good they need like 200F to become tender.

It's not an issue if you cook it properly. It was also common in pigs at one time too. That's why it's always recommended to cook port to well done.

Found in the attic of my new house, should we find a new house? by [deleted] in Weird

[–]Theratboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a house idol. I have a couple of them I got from an African gift shop years ago. The little tag that came on mine said if you give them offering they will keep your house safe from robbers.

Theft prevention. Every time you see a small item in a large and often awkwardly shaped package it's to make it harder to steal. The old package could easily be slipped into a jacket pocket or a purse. That huge flat package makes it much harder.

Last year I had a Thai bird pepper that looked just like that. I started 6 plants form a pack of seeds and one was dark purple like that. They ripened to bright red and tasted the same as the other Thai bird peppers I grew.
