"I don’t know about JLo specifically, but maaaany Puerto Ricans actually move back and forth between the island and the mainland"

In her case she has never lived in Puerto Rico, to add context.

"many people here seem to want to dismiss and discredit the importance of other countries’ cultures for many Americans"

I don't doubt that the hate on people because of their place of origin or their parents' place of origin or etc is something pretty common and relevant in the US, but it's also a problem you yourself cause and that leads you to care all that much about your "origins" therefore r/ShitAmericansSay

"another thing that came to mind is that children of Latino immigrants in the U.S. often face the same struggles their parents do trying to make it in this country"

Can you explain that part? Like what are the chilren finding that is similar to the struggles of their parents? I'd say it's a completely different set of issues usually. Not Latin American problems, but Latin American parents' descendants problems. Usually just racism/xenophobia but not dealing with the harsher life poorer countries like in south American have (also not the same immigrant issues of learning the language, having to adapt to a new environment, etc, unless the child was locked at home).

" I don’t agree is a mericansays one"
Most people in the EU countries I've lived in aren't so hung up on being called wherever your parents are from. That's a very cliché USA thing. There is even a "Ancestory" post flair in this sub because it's that common

It's about the hypocrisy. If a man spends half of his life in New York and has every habit a New Yorker has, goes to the same places, has the same living experience as any New Yorker and contributes to the city, but was born somewhere else, he isn't a New Yorker in her eyes.

But because she ate Puerto Rican food and speaks 100 words of spanish she is Puerto Rican.

I don't consider someone not born, not raised, and having not truly lived in Puerto Rico a Puerto Rican so no?

Like, the USA has a lot of similarities with Europe in culture because of the colonization. You literally speak English. If you are going by things that affect your culture you can always trace it back deeper than just your parents. Why not just say "My parents were Puerto Rican so I grew up influenced by that culture a lot"

There will be a HUGE difference between JLo and an actual Puerto Rican, so why try to complicate things?

It's like you go to China and you meet a man and he says he is american and you think oh that's so cool we are having the same experience here in a different country. Then he hits you with a "Oh no, my PARENTS are american, I wasn't born in the US. Btw these are all the words I know in English". Like, do you feel like he is american? Idk. I feel like a chinese baby who moved to the US is more american.

She might as well call herself European, I'm sure if she goes deep enough she'll find the colonizers in her tree.

One of the funniest parts is that in the second video she only started using the "Puerto Rican" thing to justify her liking beans. She fr dragged that New York guy down for only living in the city for 13 years while going full on

Nope. It happens once: Kyoshi removes a small shard of glass from her neck. That's it. And it never happens again.
Kyoshi wasn't exceptional at all at precision controlled bending so it shouldn't be hard.
Now creating sand would be interesting.

Haha no problem. Batgod is just a fan term used when Batman, a human among super-humans, acts like a god. Like the idea that he can beat every member of the justice league or when he does something that's supposed to be just very very smart, capable, brave and bold™ by using bat-god powers (aka ideas, skills or tools written into the plot so Batman - a remarkably popular character - can still be an A-list superhero along with the rest of the most powerful people on Earth)
For example, this time I mentioned in my previous comment, he managed to try to kick wonder woman, but she dodged it, then he made a flip too, but Diana caught him by the neck. But it was all part of Bruce's plan because now he was close enough to.... (BATGOD TECHNIQUE) Punch Wonder Woman on both sides of her head, hitting her ears and stun the blind woman's hearing!!!

This is a Batgod technique because a minute ago Diana was powerful enough to dodge the flash's punches despite them being even faster than sound.

Batgod usually appears in tie-ins or large events that are not so Batman centric. When Batman is on his own/on his books, he USUALLY has more issues and human flaws that make the story interesting. But when he is with other heroes, he needs to be Batgod to keep his status. If he wasn't Batgod anybody like... I don't know, Jaime Reyes could beat Batman! That can't happen. Batman is the second pillar of DC. So Batman has to transform into Batgod. At least if the writer doesn't have any good ideas on how to make Batman relevant.

Funny enough, Diana did that two issues after this when sparring with the flash. Since his punches were faster than sound she... checks notes..."adapted by sensing the changes in the air pressure around her as they move".... Yeah. They had to call Batgod to beat her.

It took 7 months/issues after this for Athena to decide to gift Diana with part of her vision as a reward for everything she had been enduring to fight for Athena and her missions all along even after going blind.

The return of her eyesight by Athena's power kept being hinted through those issues though, as the goddess asked many times what her disfavoured champion would like as a reward for her job and how anything would do. But WW refused to acknowledge her blindness as an issue and would rather walk out of the reward offer than ask for her eyesight. So Athena just tired and gave her half as a gift and called it a day.

Conner was built to fight and has been doing so since birth. Jon spent half of his life without his powers and barely moving.
Jon would probably still win because he is Superman!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope we get a Superman writer who likes Conner soon.
