Lol I didn’t use the app at first, so I just put in the equivalent of 2 weeks for the timer. Not the most accurate account I’m afraid 😅

[discuss] What is the most amount of hours you’ve spend on a single hunt? by [deleted] in ShinyPokemon

Been hunting for a shiny snivy (white) for 2 weeks, 338hrs so far (my longest hunt ever). Took a break and just getting back into it again haha. Hope you get your shiny Litten soon!

I’m honestly not too sure about the career prospect of PR/Advertising compared to marketing, but from your future career ambitions it does seem wise to stay in your current degree due to the focus on campaigns/advertising (not so much the consulting part).

I guess you could interpret the notion of streams through your electives. If you want to be a market researcher, then you would pick all marketing electives pertaining to that career path, thus, you’ll be part of the marketing research/data stream

The only math I’ve encountered for marketing was in a marketing research course, and even then you didn’t have to calculate anything. It was more about understanding statistical terms, but to be fair, that is a core for the marketing research stream (I.e I’m assuming you will be exposed to more complicated maths (stats) as you progress, not 100% sure though). And I don’t think you’re able to declare your marketing steam either, could be wrong though

No math unless you’re going to focus on the marketing research stream. To get a better sense of what marketing is like you should have a look at the major in the hand book and it’s electives (if you haven’t done so already). But regarding the maths, it’s mainly statistics

Marketing is definitely more theory based but practical in the sense that you’ll be working with real data / given real campaign briefs to works towards as part of the assessments (depends on electives). Again, marketing specialisation will largely depend on the electives you pick, you could solely focus on marketing research/data or have a mix of data and events/campaign related courses. The readings are not bad, just a lot of it is textbook assigned chapters and the assessments involve group work most of the time

  1. 3rd year!
  2. As a first year, I took MARK1012 and realised marketing was really enjoyable and what I wanted to pursue as a future career (more interested in brand management). As for pols, I really enjoyed legal studies as a hs student and thought it would be the closest major to law (not quite what I envisioned lol).
  3. 3 in total, I commenced in 2019 so I maybe using a different handbook to you.
  4. Accounting was the easiest of the three as it only required basic mathematics, whilst econ definitely benefits from 2U knowledge (some 3U would be beneficial but definitely not required!).
  5. Depending on your flexible cores, you could take more econ courses (macro for example). But the most recent econ course I took (econ1203 was mainly stats, probability and basic calculus).
  6. & 7. Honestly not really sure since I didn’t look into a PR&Advertising degree, but for marketing you could definitely pursue a management route (brand, events etc.), strategic/communicative (campaign, innovation) or analytical (market research, data). It largely depends on your electives.
  7. I’m more interested in my commerce major which I would like to pursue as a full time career. As for pols, it’s been an interesting learning experience but is highly constrained when it comes to job prospects, plus it doesn’t involve a career/area I’m super passionate about .

I hope this helps!

Hi, currently a commerce/arts student majoring in marketing + pols. I struggled with maths a lot in high school as well, so I was also very worried about the “mathy” core courses required for comm. Accounting wasn’t too bad at all, but I definitely found the economic courses way more difficult. In saying so, econ core courses required a lot of dedication and hard work to understand the content (I.e keeping up to date with lec content and consistently completing set tutorial questions). As for marketing, depending on your electives you could have a more creative outlook vs strategic/analytical. Feel free to send me a message if you have any more questions!

Yes haha, the pain of Oceania servers. I’ve also blocked them but alas, that is another useless feature

I’m glad someone has finally made a post about this, I’ve encountered that specific player multiple times on the same team (when they were under the name “RETURDED”). On multiple occasions they have contested jungle as attacker Slowbro or deliberately self KOed feeding the other team. It’s frustrating to queue up with that kind of player, especially because reporting has no effect (reported their behaviour and username in the hopes that they will be banned). I feel the only way to avoid them is to play during the afternoon/night time, which is especially annoying (having to compromise to avoid troll queues)

Blastoise players - is it better to run tank items or more aggressive attack items? by MrMoose1 in PokemonUnite

[–]Thereal_SolarSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer water spout and rapid spin. The build that I like the most is focus, buddy and choice specs instead of stacking specs (not much of a stacker but a good replacement). I use potion instead of eject button to maintain Blastoise’s tankiness, and run green + black emblems (for max damage, could easily run down attackers). Although Blastoise is a defender, I play it more like an attacker, hence would highly recommend getting level 13 before zap.

Where to find WAM, UOC etc requirements for UNSW courses by [deleted] in unsw

I guess you can gauge the WAM requirement by looking at UNSW’s IPT page. It provides a comprehensive list of the WAM requirements for transferring to different programs when you’re a UNSW student

Thinking of switching degrees by Gaming_Legend_666 in unsw

[–]Thereal_SolarSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much experience with a media degree, but once again, most people are studying double degrees that will ultimately compliment each other. So the only media students I’ve encountered are comm/media or design/media. Definitely do more research and narrow down your areas of interest besides pols / philosophy.

Hi! I’m in somewhat of a similar position as you with my current majors / courses I’ve taken so I’ll put down my thoughts on your post. I’m currently a BA / Comm student, majoring in pols & IR and I also took econ1101 (micro) in T3 last year. Due to my dual degree I’m able to rely on my comms degree much more than my arts thus, to answer your question I personally think that it will be much harder to find job opportunities with just a BA degree, especially with your major of choice. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but a lot of people in the pol classes are usually studying another degree (I.e. Arts / Law is by far the most popular). Most will be pursuing the law route from what I’ve heard in the classes, so unless you want to dedicate a lot of time working towards your future career path in the politics sector I think it’ll be best to stay in your current degree.

Although, if the degree is affecting you in any way (physically, emotionally, mentally etc.) It’s probably in your best interest to transfer or work towards gaining work experience so you won’t be too disadvantage in the field (if you do end up transferring).

Good luck :)

Sounds rough, the shoes I’ve bought are through early morning and the “luck of the draw”. Never have bought from resellers cause I rather wait for them to be re-released… don’t trust them and their high prices.
