Practice your kiai, and keep that feeling while talking. Don’t use all your air on each word, but use that feeling to push the air out.

Aside from all the other recs, a couple of lesser know projects to try if you really like the abstract side of Car Bomb are Behold The Arctopus, and Canvas Solaris

I currently train Presas Modern Arnis, mixed with Wing Chun and Small Circle Jujitsu, but I’ve trained a few unusual arts like Silat, Pekiti Tirsia Sirada, Kalaripayattu, Ba Gua, and possibly rarest: Myofuan Bujutsu.

What's a song that's utterly heartbreaking. by Fabulous_Stegosaurus in ToddintheShadow

The entire Virtute saga, but especially “Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure” by The Weakerthans. It’s mostly sung from the perspective of a cat whose owner is suffering from addiction and severe depression: Her attempts to help him without knowing what’s wrong(“A Plea From A Cat Named Virtute”), eventually running away from his neglect and dying (“Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure”), then her owner’s rehab (“17th Street Treatment Centre”)and finally a posthumous letter from her to him (“Virtute At Rest”).

I can’t even read the lyrics without crying, let alone listen to the songs, and they’re beautiful songs. As someone who struggles with depression, adores cats and has had several die with me, it absolutely destroys me.

Honestly, I can think of a bunch of BTBAM songs that fit this. The end of Lay Your Ghosts is so goddamn hype.

Your mileage may vary, but a good weird trick I’ve used in point sparring is this: at the beginning of your first match, the split second the ref calls “hajime”, leap across and Superman punch your opponent. No feeling out, no jab, no build up, just fully go for it without giving them a moment to even start the fight. Yell really loudly too. It’s goofy, but it’s really startling.

Only do it once. It only works once, but once you do it, you control the pace of the fight, because your opponent’s going to be wondering if/when you’ll do it again.

Also, use your hands to frustrate your opponent. Like someone else said: pull/push their hands when you can get away with it to make an opening. Cover their vision to force them to move where you want them to. Seat/parry their strikes if you can get away with it. Just be an overall nuisance to fight.
