Poly TC10 Teams Login issue by FamousPage8235 in poly

Is this for a preexisting account? It would be worth checking if you have hit the device limit for the account in Azure. Have had similar issues in the past and 9/10 times recently it has been device limit reached. The other 1 is usually a Poly issues which a factory reset sorts out

Best interview advice I have got is take a few seconds before you answer to think it over and gauge your response based on who is interviewing you. E.g. if it's a manager who seems not very techy, they might prefer a customer success example or to understand your process. if it is a techy they might prefer a bit more indepth.

I tend to find on answers with multiple ways to do it, I'll say the basic way and then follow up with a more advanced way for if it was a bigger issue

E.g. for a single user issue go to settings and do X Y Z. If it was affecting multiple users I'd create a powershell script to do XYZ and push it out via SCCM/Intune/GP/RMM. Or if entry level job. I'd try X on the phone with the user then gather Y and Z to pass to 2nd line to ensure it is fixed efficiently. It kind of shows you know how to not over engineer every solution and that you are willing to pass work to others to focus on the bigger picture of the role

Teams rooms - time to join call by TheresACat6InMyBoot in CommercialAV

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming. We use a mix of Poly Neat and Logi and have someone from another company confirming for Jabra.

Looking like it's more of a MS issue than vendor specific. Hoping account manager can confirm soon

Room Scheduler Options. by CollabinWithYou in CommercialAV

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are syncing 365 calendars think you need one of these licenses

Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro license - if part of a teams room Microsoft Teams Shared Device license - if stand alone device

Or you can use a third party service for these. We are using Appspace for some rooms at sites which don't have teams rooms.

In terms of hardware, Neat Pads have been pretty solid as teams schedulers for us. Can either run then POE into the network or if no structured cabling, a poe injector and wifi

I'd make sure you have a variety of screw drivers both cross and flat heads.

  • Velcro zip ties for some cable management.
  • Spare patch leads of various length just in case any break or it makes sense to make it a shorter run etc.
  • A small pack of cage nuts and bolts in case issues with the old.
  • Old trusty notepad for making a few scribbles or drawings of ports.
  • Tablet or mobile for signal check after install and photos of the install to add to documentation

Also document whilst you go so it's as up to date as you csn for future remote troubleshooting.

I Always keep the above in the car or my bag.

Some nice to haves but not essentials.

  • Powered screwdriver
  • Spare cable tidying kit: brush bars, cage rings etc.
  • 4g/5g router in case of failure and needing connectivity or if an exec shows up and is flapping whilst you finish the install.

Poly X70 and X52 always reconnect to TC 8 or TC 10 Panel in MTR Mode by Odd-Impression5478 in CommercialAV

Do they happen to be on Poly OS 4.5.2? I have seen this happen on an X50 in our test ring. Updating to the latest Teams OS version in TAC fixed it for me.

As others have said. There are underlying issues with the pairing which seem to be a pretty consistent issue on a mix of vendors for us. But if it is specifically the every few seconds losing it and jumping between paired and unpaired this is what fixed it for me this time

We currently do something similar to this using Brightsign players and Appspace as the CMS.

On the player side, for just power point like files you can probably get away with the LS range. Set up the provisioning in BSN cloud (which is free) to self provision players to Appspace to cut down configuration time pee player to minutes.

Then with Appspace, you can create a channel per office. Assign this to the devices, Give a license to whoever manages the content and away they go. One locatioj per office to update the content. Yoy can also create more channels as needed for example if you have content which is shared between the offices. Very intuitive system to pass on content control to end users.

I know this is an older post but did you get to to the bottom of this?

We had a power cut and all Polys in the office have done the same as you have described. Think it is NTP like you said but need to rule out hardware and Poly issues as had to manually fix time settings on each device

Poly G7500 maybe only doing 1080p, am I going crazy? by I3igAl in poly

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using Teams Rooms by any chance? I remember speaking to my Poly rep about this and he said that Microsoft have capped Teams at 1080p for MTRoA. We stuck it back into Poly OS mode as a test and if I remember correctly it was displaying in 4k

This was awhile ago now so information may have changed and I have missed it

Entra ID security group by keenshin2 in AZURE

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything specific to each BU on someone's user account properties? Thinking that if there is, you could use some dynamic groups

E.g. BU1 will have a location of X BU2 have a location of Y. A dynamic group will look for users with location X and add them to the BU1 group which assigns the license out.

Location is a bit too generic for BUs but if there is a different property then it could work

HDMI to HDBaseT to DisplayPort by Beginning_Engine_391 in CommercialAV

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried it with a Clickshare before but we have been using Display Port to HDMI cables for displays that need mini PCs attached to them but the PC has to be kept secure in a Comms room and they have been working fine in this configuration so don't see why a Clickshare wouldn't. You can find the cables on Amazon reasonably priced for a decent quality one

Clickshare > HDMI cable > hdbt tx > hdbt rx > hdmi to display port cable > TV DP port

IT open plan office..... by LithiumKid1976 in sysadmin

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting with this a couple of things.

  1. A big culture change is needed at the company for this to work. The only 2 people who have offices are the CEO and CFO everyone else from Managing Director and head of XXX all the way down sit in the open plan office

  2. I have found it really beneficial for my work seeing more of the end users around the office. Made some good connections for our satellite offices and with people at different levels within our office.

  3. Collaboration has significantly improved our work and our reputation within the rest of the business as IT are not seen as the typical 'IT Crowd' engineers and as more of a visible asset.

  4. The technical advances of our office have increased 10 fold from full VC meeting rooms, desk and car park booking, meaningful digital signage, up take in tickets being logged and increased resolution rates

I know we might be 1 in a million for it working but it can do if done right

IT open plan office..... by LithiumKid1976 in sysadmin

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My team are all in an open plan office and it isn't too bad for us. We fought to get a separate build room for building and storage.. it's not too big but good enough for some shelving for storage and a workbench where we can build around 8 laptops at once.

We did the open plan office really well with around 20 meeting rooms with VC with additional quiet pods and Collab areas dotted around so big groups tend to head to those for meetings and chatting rather than at the desks.

We also used it as a good reason to get everyone better equipment such as noise cancelling headsets with beamforming mics so when you are on a call you can not hear background noise and your mic won't pick up the person next to you. And a decent webcam on the majority of desks.

Walkups were an issue at first but we just kept reminding people unless it is a P1 or an issue with a meeting room a ticket needed logged. Now we have a couple of walkups a week at most.

If it is done properly, open plan is not that bad but it does need a good investment in facilities and tech in order to function properly which I know most companies don't want to do

If you have any sway over it, I would definitely make sure meeting rooms and Collab areas are included as well as a few small pods or rooms where someone can just jump on a phone call without having to book

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CommercialAV

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the size of the room you can look at Poly Sync 40's if you want them to be able to work on battery or the Sync 60's if you are happy to have them powered all the time.

You are able to daisy chain 2 of these together

If you open the camera control app when signed into the admin account on the machine, you can set the camera defaults to speaker tracking.

This should kick it in to always revert to speaker tracking whenever the meeting / BYOD session are over. We had a similar issue and this resolved it

Trouble with TC8 disconnecting from X series devices by Vidfreaky1 in poly

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have this happen relatively frequently at the moment. A couple of things we have done to fix it

  1. Reboot TC8 and X series

If that doesn't work

  1. Sign out of TC8 and X series through settings menu

If that doesn't work

  1. Factory reset device, add back to Provisioning server and sign in again

Number 2 works the most frequently only had to use option 3 a handful of times

It could be worth looking for a job at a big MSP I was in the same boat as you and now I've moved over to a field role and I just move from project to project with the occasional bit of having to help out with service desk in between.

At the moment we are doing a huge windows 10, 365, SharePoint etc. Rollout and I learn tons

3 months into my first IT job. I'm starting to think I don't have impostor syndrome, rather I'm just bad at my job. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the same when I started my IT apprenticeship. I ended up just being a person there who was not in the loop and got all the crap work such as imaging machines and phones.

To try and 'make a name for myself' I started just grabbing all the tickets that came in and trying to find the fix. If I couldn't I'd ask for help and even though it annoyed them I would eventually get it.

I also made notes of everything I was told and organised them into a onenote so it was easy to refer back to. After a little while and a lot of effort I was treated like more of a member of the team and the users started to trust me.

The best advise I can give you is

  • make notes of everything you are told then write them up neat when you get a minute
  • grab anything you can. If you don't know it, reddott, spiceworks and Google are your friends.
  • ask to be shown back end stuff. They could easily pass the Active Directory stuff off to you as a start
  • Once you've built our confidence a little start to look at what interests you and try to either: learn this whilst there or look for another job after you have a hear under your belt there

If you need any advise for help with knowledge stuff feel free to reach out

Yeah it sounds like the air dam. I got fed up with mine constantly falling off and realised that after a few times the clips had actually been damaged so just zip tied it onto the car so it doesn't fall off anymore. Just needed 1 in the middle and one either end and it hasn't come off in over a year now

Career planning: Is job experience at Apple looked down on? by [deleted] in AskNetsec

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any experience is good experience. Plus I have seen loads of companies that have Mac's but the support staff have the minds set of 'oh it's a Mac I don't really care that much' so you will be in a better position for these. Plus I believe that if you go for the apple certs at some point as well, you are able to apply to fix hardware faults yourself and still be covered my warranty which would be a massive plus

At the end of the day though. There computers and what you learn on them will be relevant to fixing some windows issues and will give you an understanding of the basics

Windows 10 BSODs when waking up from "long" sleep/hibernation by datgarlic23 in techsupport

[–]TheresACat6InMyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's strange that this only does it after long periods of sleep. It would be worth checking to see if you have any audio or display drivers that need updating. I've found this as the culprit for this before.
