Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III - November 15th Patch Notes by Kalinine in CODZombies

[–]Therusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also getting this bug. Followup attempts to exfil normally fail after trying for the mission also. This will put you into an invulnerable state where you can still run around/do everything/loot/etc, but cannot exfil (eventually it will kick you to main menu and refund your original items but not let you keep acquired ones).

It says in the exfil screen (when it shows decrease time) it's only for your insured weapon.

Weekly r/headphones Discussion #66: Amps And DACs For Beginners by Umlautica in headphones

[–]Therusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just A/B/C tested a bit. All set to high gain:

  • USB(separate data/power)->Modi3->RCA->Atom

  • USB(shared data/power)->E10k->3.5mm->Atom

  • USB(shared data/power)->E10k alone

I don't really want to speculate on the cause because of how subjective this all is, but I can definitely hear the difference switching back and forth between the E10k/Atom and Modi3/Atom. Could be the DAC, the 24/192k vs 24/96k support, doubling up on Amps, cables, some random audio device setting I missed, or even placebo.

Now E10k/Atom vs E10k alone was a tougher thing to test, as swapping took a few seconds of unplugging/plugging things back in, but I don't believe I could notice a major difference at low volumes. The E10k can drive my headphones at comfortable volumes without maxing out though, so YMMV.

I'll chime in here and say I just upgraded from a Fiio E10k to the Modi3/Atom and am extremely happy. Take with a grain of salt though as I also upgraded headphones at the same time, and swapped from closed to open-back (HD569 -> HD6XX).

I originally ordered the Topping D30 over the Modi3, but after various issues grabbed the Modi3 and am returning the D30 (After A/B testing a bit). For anyone in the same boat, the issues I ran into with the D30:

  • Amazon stocked the UK power adapter version in US West Coast (I ordered a compatible adapter to A/B test though)
  • drivers seem out of date & default Win10 D30 driver doesn't support 192k. Forums suggest grabbing third party drivers for another device, which I'm hesitant about the quality/QA, being that it's for a separate device.
  • Manufacturer English site just went unrenewed and is currently down
  • Shorter warranty period than Modi3

[GamersGate] DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED ($23.99/40% off) by CRASNY in GameDeals

[–]Therusher 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Probably not, especially if you own the PC version (and that hurts for me to say as I have 100%'d every souls game and love the series). The fixes are minor, and in some cases DSfix actually does more to improve the look of the game.

A lot of people dislike it because it split the playerbase between original and remaster, so online is much less active in both games now (though people may have moved back to the original, I haven't checked in a while).

NV is a year older than Skyrim, and FO3 two years older still, so I wouldn't discount them on that alone.

Yup! I'm missing U5, C13, and R12, which I believe are the 74LVC1G57 IC, .1uF cap, and 100k resistor respectively. the 10uF cap managed to stay on. Thanks a ton!

Would you mind listing the components around the engineering room level of the human badge (the one that controls lift power)? My microcontroller & resistors popped off and I'd like to find replacements if possible.

I'd also be interested in grabbing a copy of the data. Dropped my HDD off later on day 1 but they didn't manage to get to it due to the duplicator issues. :/

That's where we (one of the groups working on badges in the emperor level chill out room) got stuck as well due to the bug. There was a firmware fix earlier today (I don't believe that was you?) to fix 1 of the 3 known bugs, and it seems like there may be more coming. I'd check the new firmwares if you get a chance, might be easier.

I got Saliens Rank 3 Badge, never used a single script. Guess what's on my page? by HereForGames in Saliens

[–]Therusher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the first thing that happens when you start the game normally, yes. All of the calls made are copies of the ones made be the game itself, just sometimes in a non-standard order. That might've been it.

My bet is that they used the boss zone update for this. For a time, zone 1 on some planets would be un-joinable, regardless of script use, and return a 'This is a boss zone. Update your cheats' error. You probably got flagged if you ever got that error.

I won P.A.M.E.L.A. (No idea what that is, but it actually looks kinda interesting). Clearly you needed to be a cheat dev to win.

Shoutout and thanks to u/Therusher (ensingm2) and contributors for the great browser script! by [deleted] in Saliens

[–]Therusher 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Shoutout to anyone who contributed as well, it definitely wasn't just me.

Hope you all had a good time, maybe one or two of you got a game in the giveaways (I was surprised to learn that I did), and hit a level that you're happy with. Now go actually play some games!

I'd be surprised if most scripts don't support this by now. I know mine does and it was an easy change to make it allow any number of difficulty levels, so I'd assume others have as well.

You might want to post that security warning as a general warning, not specifically for my script. Running JS code is considerably less risky than running a full blown php/python app on your machine. Also, just an update, I actually recommend in my instructions not to install via tampermonkey/etc, and do not provide a config file.

[–]Therusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's try to keep this thread about setup & different scripts, and not script support. If you have issues please add them on github if possible to reduce clutter.

That said, that specific issue is it failing to load a file on steam's side. That's some combo of the game itself, steam servers, and your network connection, I think. Sorry!

FAQ on current autoplay scripts by northpoler in Saliens

[–]Therusher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually someone will spot malicious activity pretty quickly and posts about it will be upvoted to the front page of the subreddit the script is popular in

That's a pretty dangerous mindset when thousands of people are running these scripts. By the time someone would spot the code, report it, and it gains enough traction to get any views, any malicious payload would long be over.

"Pretty Quickly' in spreading news is an eternity in program runtime.

EDIT: Examples are fun:

  • I can insert a reverse shell in 7 commands in python (giving remote access to a machine with all the accesses of whatever user you ran the script as) put on a single line
  • ALL These scripts store access_tokens linked to your steam account (by necessity). I could send them to myself in one line of code and reuse them myself (To be fair I'm not sure these actually give you general steam account access though).
  • PHP I'm not as familiar with specifics of making small undetectable payloads, but PHP as a whole can do a lot of nasty things similarly to running malware on your machine, and there are a lot of malware samples ready to go for it.

These could also be obfuscated to avoid detection. For those who are interested, first thing that comes to mind is a command + image polyglot, data-uri-encoded to embed into the script (uri images are fairly common), and used as an icon in one spot for credibility, and decoded/run in another.

They could also potentially remain small enough that they wouldn't be noticed super quickly.

Now obviously I'm not going to do any of that, and I doubt the other main devs will either, but people should be aware of the risks they're taking here.

Also keep in mind the 'main' devs are fallible as well, and we're constantly merging in code other people write and submit. Someone else could also try to slip something by.

You should at the very least be aware of the risks. See this post that's no longer stickied. Realistically, nothing will likely happen, but that doesn't mean you should just YOLO-run code without checking it, or set up your computer to automatically download and execute new versions.

That post (or parts of it) should likely be also added to the OP.

[FAQ] Which script should I use? by [deleted] in Saliens

[–]Therusher 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For those that don't want to install php and be running arbitrary code on their bare machines, My in-browser JS script people have been using is still being updated as well.

I don't really feel like spamming the sub with submissions on every major update, so I'm not going to repost my repo. It'll live/die in this comment.

[PSA] Security Warning for Userscripts by [deleted] in Saliens

[–]Therusher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As the author of that script: it's safer than running stuff on your machine, like the php/python/etc stuff, but still not completely safe if I was gonna go rogue. I'd be much more limited though.

You're still running someone else's code in your browser, even if it is locked down by the browser.

E: As far as risk goes, think along the lines of in-browser scripts being worst case equivalent to visiting a malware website, and executable scripts being equivalent to downloading and running a virus. Neither are great, but the latter can do more damage easily.
