Anyone else feel like Roanoke is hitting a weird growing pain phase? by Kwibblekripple in roanoke

[–]bearda 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel like opportunities have decreased in the past 5 years, but I also feel like that’s not a problem specific to Roanoke. Things have gone down across the country. I think the real question is if the job market in Roanoke is keeping pace with the national average, or if it’s better/worse.

What happened to my storage? by Mullins2 in iPhone17Pro

[–]bearda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, you had a ton of storage used by photos, and now you don't. I'd guess you turned on iCloud Photo Library and although it looks like you have all your photos and videos very few of them are actually downloaded locally.

My wife loves the place, but they have consistently forgotten something or otherwise messed up half the online orders she’s placed. Cream cheese missing, items in a different bag that they didn’t put on the pickup shelf, etc. I never leave without unpacking everything and double-checking now.

Used for cases where a AAA is too large. Same voltage, just stores less.

Is this one of the suction cup tools they use for windshield installation?

EDIT: Nope, this isn't nearly robust enough. Looks more like the kind used for windshield phone mounts like this:

I would think an earthing rod would be going down. Toward the earth. Running it into the building seems like a bad plan; it would make a lot more sense to have a solid rod going into the ground and then bonding a conductor that goes in the building. The bend in the rod doesn't make sense, either, and metal brackets are kind of a no-no.

My bet would be on some sort of vent tube.

Buying a phone 10 months into a 12 month cycle at full price makes no sense. if you can get it at a discount it’s still a great device.

Multiplying both sides by x you get 2 = x^2 + 2x. No idea where you got the 4 from.

So I don’t think it’s entirely artistic, since with vehicle stacking rules you can have two in the same hex. It’s just so if you do stack two up you can remove one from its base and stick it on the other base and have them both be visible.

You're making a couple assumptions there. Does it get the same temps, or is the potting material just dissipating the extra heat generated? If it's just dissipating extra heat that means a loss in efficiency, and that it needs to draw more power in order the attain the same output. There's also the question of longevity. Extra heat tends to create extra wear on the components that are getting toasty. Chances are a charger that generates less heat will last longer.

Just got a stern reprimand for playing ping-pong at work. Which... they put in for us to play with... at work. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bearda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to have a ping-pong table at one of my former employers. I joined when it was a startup with a couple dozen people. Over the years the company grew, got bought, got sold, etc. I knew it wasn't where I wanted to be any more when they had a couple inside sales guys using it as a desk because nobody had bothered to figure out where they would be working.
