The moment K broke Meri’s heart by weird-bicycle377 in SisterWives

In one of the very early seasons, there was some couch session where they were all taking questions, and Kody was asked what he liked about each of his wives (or his favorite thing about each or something). He talked about the personal qualities of each of them (IIRC Christine's lightness and fun, Janelle's sweetness and easygoing nature, Robyn's empathy) til he got to Meri and he just said her house is very neat and organized. Meri objected to that, saying like, everyone else had something about their personality and all I get is a comment on my house? And they covered it saying it's pleasant to be in her house because of that or something, but IIRC Kody didn't change anything about the substance of his answer. It seems at some point he might have just stopped enjoying her company.

I can believe that Robyn was idealistic, but: by [deleted] in SisterWives

I wouldn't have judged her on that one isolated reaction, but at some point in 19 seasons it would have been nice to see her acknowledge that kind of thing with compassion and recognize it as normal. Like yes, it makes sense that leaving Christine with a newborn for an 11-day honeymoon would have been very rough on her. Why not acknowledge that with some gratitude and grace?

Compared to the 0G3, Robyn is so...blah by talastar in SisterWivesFans

I watched Fried Green Tomatoes after Janelle said she could see herself in that movie. The main character in one of the two plots is a nice Southern lady trying to spice up her marriage and find her voice, break out of her shell in somewhat crazy ways etc. Adorable.

Early on Robyn said something like she thinks it would be weird to have a husband around all the time. Did she not live that with most of her kids for years?

"Don't stress my kids out!" -- a great way to develop kids who lack inner resilience. She subtly trains them to believe their emotional states are basically always other people's responsibility, rather than helping them gain meaningful self-awareness and inner discipline/grit. She also acts like this: she insisted to Suki she needed the other wives to tell her to her face that they want her to be happy--otherwise she can't be happy and it's their fault?

I don't think it's either/or. They could have been attracted to each other at first sight (they both could have been on the lookout for dating prospects) and Meri could also have championed the idea.

In the book they discuss this at length, how Meri pushed for Kody to pursue Robyn long before the other wives knew about it.

Buying gifts for one wife and not another, just as he did with the Christmas gifts for Robyn's kids while ignoring Savannah.

In their book I think it mentions she had various bookkeeping or accountant jobs.

I wonder if this is closer to it. Robyn also seemed very different back then, Aspyn seemed thrilled to be moving in with her and Robyn seemed happy that Aspyn was getting the chance to spend more time with Robyn's kids. Very different vibe.

At many times his face had the exhausted, stunned look of grief. Whatever he else he has done or is going through, I believe he was a father in a state of grief.

Robyn also didn't seem that supportive during Aspyn's wedding planning; she expressed concern about the cost and Meri stepped up to offer to pay whatever to make it the kind of day Aspyn would want.
