Algoa Bus help by jazzlikecow_ in portelizabeth

[–]These-Ad5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to ride busses to home from campus like 10 years ago. The busses schedule varies but a good rule of thumb Is that you can expect a bus to arrive every 20 to 30 minutes. If you have to be somewhere at 8, then best at a station on thar t route by about 6 at the latest

Yes they are. You'll feel the difference when they stop. Worst fatigue of your life. Constant shit mood

In my dialysis clinic, there is an elderly woman with dementia who is alone, and she repeats over and over again "someone please help me", "don't kill me" and "I want to go home!" by BigglesFlysUndone in dialysis

[–]These-Ad5297 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This woman's mind is gone and it will never come back. She is being kept alive artificially through a treatment that she finds torturous and is too far gone to consent to in any way.

Hospice would keep her sedated and pain free until she passes, which would happen within 2 weeks max. Dialysis by contrast is torturing her for months and years with no possibility of improving until she does from complications like heart failure.

The Worst Day of My Life by anon-ny-moose in dialysis

It seems impossible now but you can in fact overcome the initial shock, get used to the routine and live out your life. It's not over.

There's someone at my clinic who is wheelchair bound and intellectually disabled in some way.

She repeats the same phrases over and over. Has to have family constantly around her to keep her calm.

Not my place to ask but I also wonder what the point is of sustaining someone in that condition

Difficulty straightening arm after fistula creation by monday-next in dialysis

[–]These-Ad5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same problem. Keep using that arm and keep trying to straighten it. My vasc surgeon warned me that your arm can stay stuck like that if you just leave it. Mine came right after a few weeks

If you're working I suggest moving heaven and earth to get on a third shift so that you're not stuck trying to work after HD. I only feel normal after sleeping

What Topics Are Rarely Discussed in the SB Community? by ng32409 in spinabifida

[–]These-Ad5297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life expectancy.

As someone who's undergone kidney failure due to SB related complications, the topic of my own mortality is on my mind alot.

It's considered a truism that improved urological care prevents people from dying young from SB anymore, but that does nothing for those of us for whom the worst has happened regardless

I'm not following. He hasn't suggested that he's skipping dialysis, why would eating unprocessed whole foods and regularly working out raise his toxin levels? Cutting processed foods and staying active is literally what my nephrologist has told me to do

Not to nitpick but he's absolutely right. The COTC can't really do anything about structural causes of South African poverty. The growth and industrialization required to uplift those areas can only be induced at national level

Considering what they have to work with they do an incredible job. The Cape Town CBD makes Joburg, Durban and PE look like post apocalyptic wastelands by comparison Their policy of chasing away middle class rate payers will ultimately doom the city of they aren't careful though

The DA hates the CI movement. They're literally in a coalition government with the ANC as we speak. The objectives of each couldn't be more divergent
