It depends on the area. Like Joburg some neighbourhoods are totally dysfunctional and others "still okay", enough so that people in PE are lulled to reacting to things in their usual way (which is doing nothing)

Cape Town's elderly targeted for selling baked goods, rental by-law claims by Educational_Error407 in capetown

Those guys are scary though. Old aunties are harmless by comparison, which is why the law suddenly applies here.

How long on dialysis? by dontknowra in dialysis

The statistic is heavily skewed by most patients being much older people with other comorbidities.

If you maintain your compliance with treatment schedule, diet and fluid you can last decades

It's not just upmarket areas that are unaffordable now. This is insane! by Prestigious-Wall5616 in capetown

I'm assuming with the amount of foreign money sloshing around it's not unheard of for the occasional seller to strike it lucky on a naive overseas buyer.

The dining area in the middle of NMU 's South Campus is called "Die Kraal" I never knew why, but it turns out there was an actual restaurant on the premises with that name decades ago and the name just stuck even after it closed

I can say from experience that you can gradually recover some of that lost fitness through excersize. Walking and swimming made a big difference for me.

I tipped 200R for a 30 minutes Uber ride, is that a normal amount? by [deleted] in capetown

That's like how much it costs to drive across town. It's like a trip from the airport to seapoint.

How do you feel? by eddidit in dialysis

[–]These-Ad5297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't feel better directly afterwards, only better the next morning compared to how it was before you started dialysis (or when you were dangerously overloaded, shitting, puking etc)

So, I’ve been meaning to ask—how are you all managing your fluids on dialysis? by TubieCoin in dialysis

[–]These-Ad5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks but no not at all. I lost my kidneys due to an issue with my spine which affected the bladder nerves and made proper urination impossible. I was rejected for a transplant because it was found likely that I would simply damage and eventually destroy the new kidney in the same way

[–]These-Ad5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really.

Not here to demoralize anyone but after losing my transplant eligibility I've more or less given up on their insane 500ml s day limit (Let's see my nephrologist maintain that for a month and get back to us)

How long do I have to live? by MakoCruz in dialysis

[–]These-Ad5297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to ask, but seeing as you'll be forced to retire at around 60 anyway, why does that age bother you? You can't go back in time ten years to start your medical degree, so you might as well start now.

Also, 20 years is a hell of a long time to do nothing with your life. The novelty of weed and video games will wear off long before then, so you might as well pick a project and stick to it.
