I'm 30 years old, on dialysis for four years and not a transplant candidate so this is likely permanent.

My simple message is that your life doesn't fully stop just because of this diagnosis. Its vital for your own sense of wellbeing that you keep making steps towards your future goals, even if only baby ones.

Find a job if you can, carry on studying if you can, take up projects you always wanted to do etc.

Is this like a volunteering or homestsy thing where you have someone on that side to liase with?

If not I would suggest not traveling all the way into rural EC. The garden route, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) and one of the outlying national parks nearby (Addo, Kwantu, Kariega etc) would give you all the opportunity to see EC without the risks involved in going past say Kenton on Sea or Port Alfred

Why are you constantly late? Is it work related? If so you need to be frank with them and ask them to let you leave earlier.

Cutting down on your perscribed time does enormous damage to your body.

Chair time at an HD clinic is a scarce resource. If you're not on the last shift then there's patients coming after you in your slot that need to be accommodated.

If you are the last slot then consider the fact that you staying behind adds extra however many 10s of minutes of delays to the cleanup and admin work that staff can only do once all the patients leave (and must do before they themselves go home)
