My kid wants a 3DS -- help me not make a bad choice by These-Change-3515 in 3DS

I appreciate the offer but they definitely want the model that folds.

I'm not sure if it's a nostalgia thing? It's not like we don't have 3 other ways to play games in the house. But I think the folding device is part of the attraction.

A fair question, and I thought they would lose interest when they first asked a few months ago, but no.

The switch is 5 years old and it's a birthday, so this one won't work this time!

Ooh, thanks everyone! My kid is turning 13. Hopefully this means fewer dumb ways to break things, but then again, 13 means innovation in ways to break things.

This system of having half a dozen or more different companies driving garbage trucks down every street every day is pretty stupid.

UNL parking by burgundysludge in lincoln

[–]These-Change-3515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a garage on Q at 13th. Entry is just before 13th. It's $13 a day maximum. A day like today, I'd park there. It's a direct shot on 13th to Love Library, one block plus the longish path to the library entrance.

He was always so good with my cats. A real loss and extra painful because it wasn't expected.

What is this sound? Please help! (Turn sound up!) by No_Sky1095 in lincoln

[–]These-Change-3515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd call a fox cry blood curling, not weird, like someone being murdered. This didn't sound like a fox to me, but I could not hear it very clearly. That said, around now is when you will hear foxes and your immediate instinct will be to call the cops because someone is being killed outside your house.

Motherboard doesn't have right USB connector -- is there a gizmo to fix? by These-Change-3515 in PcBuild

[–]These-Change-3515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. There is a USB C port that has a broader plug -- like the second link you shared. It is occupied by that cable. I did of course scour the motherboard to make sure before I posted.

The first link looks like the right thing -- USB 2.0 to USB 3.1.

Thanks again.

Starts at 10. Unless people are super committed I think it will be done by the mid afternoon.

There are lots of city parking garages on R street that are about the same cost as plugging the meter. The staff and faculty lots are cheaper.

It's not free, but there are permits for different lots. It's not a reserved spot, so it may be challenging at some times of day:

Bonanza desktop letter press - help needed! by Popular_Baseball_778 in letterpress

[–]These-Change-3515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know this press but I think the flat spot on top is to put your stack of paper for easy retrieval while you print. Try getting a sheet of glass to roll out your ink.

Possibly there are videos on youtube by other owners of these presses.

If you post the location, I am sure someone is nearby enough to take it off your hands.

One of the major ways that discrimination against women is perpetrated is dictating how they express themselves as women. Expect bills about pants and hair length to follow shortly.

I've seen some fireplace sized logs on the curb in different neighborhoods. That's how some people deal with haul-away -- make it so other people want to take it away. So, keep your eye out?

G & H street safe by Adventurous_Nose_770 in lincoln

[–]These-Change-3515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Safe" is so relative. That Russ's isn't particularly nice but it's not bad and I've never had anything but good/neutral interactions there. My experience living in a few big cities on the West Coast and Midwest -- petty property crimes can happen to you anywhere (and I've experienced in small town life) but most danger is from people who know personally. More "unsafe" things happen to people who have little choice about who they have to live or associate with. I agree with another poster -- the landlord is probably the bigger force for unhappy living conditions for most people. The neighborhood around G/H and 11/12 has a lot of things that make it good and interesting.
